Job Description

Overview

Responsible for the management of the assigned principals' business (division and/or geographic), within designated "customer accounts". Primary responsibility includes increasing sales and market share of the brands represented, while earning a profit for our manufacturers and Acosta.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver principals' objectives to include volume and sales fundamentals (merchandising, assortment, pricing and shelving) goals at the assigned customers at the lowest cost.

  • Develop a Customer Business Plan that will deliver the principals' business priorities.

  • Personally call on all decision-makers at the customer to sell business plans, programs and concepts that improve long-term business results.

  • Achieve results at the lowest possible selling cost while maximizing company revenue (to include brokerage, commissions, bonuses, contest earnings, etc.). Oversee all manufacturers' expenditures at the customer.

  • Achieve competitively superior in-store presence in the assigned stores. Personally call on headquarters, supervisors and other customer operations personnel for both direct and indirect customers. Manage manufacturers' trade marketing funds, process direct shipments (via the Sales Support Coordinator) and leverage data to sell concepts to the customer.

  • Operate within the designated budget.

  • Pro-actively communicate with key principals.

  • Collaborate with Retail Sales Managers on all major retail initiatives (new product introductions, selling drives, contests, etc.).

  • Effectively use knowledge of customer, market and principal-involve marketing, technology and administrative resources to accomplish objectives.

  • Provide timely information of selling priorities to Retail Sales Managers, supervisor and shared resources (marketing, technology and administration).

  • Pro-actively share information and customer/principal information with other team members to build organization capacity.

  • Utilize computer systems and technology to achieve the objectives of the Customer Business Plan. Develop and maintain skill levels to support the use of Acosta communication systems.

  • Provide feedback to the Team Leader and/or General Manager on how to build organizational capacity and improve our business.

  • Complete special projects as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent work experience

  • A minimum of six months of relevant experience in retail (CPG industry), marketing, space management and/or resets. Sales administration or finance experience preferred.

  • Expertise in Microsoft software: PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook and thorough knowledge of web based applications. Must have excellent presentation and communication skills. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • This position requires that you drive on behalf of Acosta Sales & Marketing, and as such, any DUI/DWI conviction in the past 36 months will be an immediate disqualifier for this position

Overview

The Business Manager Assistant Specialists will be responsible for customer creation, client financial tools, trade and reconciliation, order and claims alerts, master data submissions and support. All necessary functions required to support the Business Manager and client in sales supporting assignments.

This individual must demonstrate a strong desire and willingness to collaborate across multiple functional teams to strengthen and modernize our services and capabilities.

This individual must demonstrate strong and effective time management, communication, and problem- solving skills.

Collaborating with the BMA Supervisor on daily support and training of the BMA team.

Special projects as assigned by the BMA Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  • Customer Forms - Contract generation management via customer portals, Acosta Sprint / Acosta Relay and Excel

  • Supporting the BMA Supervisor and BMA Team with training and special projects

  • Client Financial Tools - Creating customer events and maintenance from Acosta Sprint Data

  • Deduction Reconciliation - Responding to deduction alerts timely within Acosta Relay

  • Order Alerts - Verifying accurate pricing and promotions on customer orders

  • Data Support and Management - Submissions of price changes, item setup requests and customer facing information in customer portals

  • Additional support to the Business Manager and BMA Supervisor in the promotional planning and execution process

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Certification/License

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Partner with store personnel and co-workers to achieve and maintain merchandising excellence, discuss changes, and build an effective working relationship

  • Effectively and accurately prepare, process, submit, and manage documentation related to assigned reset and remodel work.

  • Perform job safely by demonstrating full awareness of his/her surroundings. Utilize proper safety techniques and equipment use when necessary. Be proactive in alerting management to any unsafe act or condition to prevent injuries

Overview

The Retail Business Strategy Manager is primarily responsible for the development and delivery of innovative solutions to Acosta customer and clients in the areas of strategic planning, strategy development, and business performance improvement. Build focused relationships with customers and clients to identify business challenges and arrive at the best solution. Provide consulting in areas such as process optimization, growth maximization, or execution plan design. Demonstrate proficiency in creating proposals, project plans, responding to customer/client questions or request, and being a proven thought leader with results. Create and present proposals to clients. Conduct needs analysis, determine project specifications, and identify solutions. Drive working sessions with customers/clients to ensure expectations and direction are aligned and timelines are being met. Identify additional product/service opportunities. Collaborate across multiple internal teams (e.g. Retail Sales, Operations Management & Retail Execution Teams) to ensure successful delivery of results based on scope of work.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop and deliver innovative solutions (Product Distribution, Shelving & Merchandise Optimization) to Acosta Clients/Customers in a mutually agreed upon retail priorities and sales objectives.

  • Utilizes advanced product/service knowledge and understanding of the Client/Customer's business to develop customized proposals that present creative solutions to successfully sell products and develop attractive value propositions.

  • Establish and maintain focused relationships with Acosta Clients/Customers and identify business challenges and develop strategic retail execution plans to optimize growth.

  • Use Data Analytic tools & reports to conduct a needs analysis, determine project scope and specifications, and identify solutions. Be recognized as an subject matter expert in the Retail Strategy in the CPG Industry.

  • Conduct needs analysis and make recommendations to the Client/Customer

  • Create and present Client/Customer proposals to influence revenue generation and meet individual targets/quotas.

  • Be a thought leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and personal development, while comparing retail results to goals and taking appropriate action to correct when necessary.

  • Proactively study retail trends, review sales initiatives, and identity competitive pressures to develop and modify retail strategies and tactics accordingly.Anticipates business challenges; recommends process, product or service improvements.

  • Perform special assignments as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four (4) year college or university; or Seven (7) years' or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience required.

  • Some experience in Project/People Management Required, Knowledge in Retail Strategy preferred. This position requires travel.

  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational and sales skills.

  • Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Demonstrate strong oral/written communication skills and strong presentation skills.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with others.

  • Must have a valid driver's license or have means to adequate transportation to visit multiple Clients/Customers in assigned region/territory.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally.

  • Great negotiation skills

  • Ability to maintain knowledge in Competitive Retail Strategy.

What is the Impact of a Meat & Seafood Sales Associate?

The Meat & Seafood Sales Associate is the face of Acosta for both the retailer and the client. You will directly impact sales and profits by continuously engaging with customers ensuring their experience in the fresh meat and seafood area is positive and they have confidence in their eating experience when preparing at home.
