We're hiring a temporary Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to our School Engagement team. The temporary assignment will run approximately six months - starting around October 1 through March 31, 2025. We're looking for individuals who can complete the entire duration of the assignment. Work hours are flexible between 7:30am and 5pm.

This is a part-time, temporary position working 29 hours per week with an end date of March 31, 2025. This is a home-based position and location is flexible within the six states of our SW region territory including the states of AR, CO, NM, OK, TX, and WY.

The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. To help you be successful, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as additional training and support, locally.

  • Create customized letters and emails using Microsoft Word Mail Merge features and Luminate.

  • Update CRM database, Dynamics, with data and activity for donors, participants, and accounts. Prepare reports.

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain record keeping and filing systems for area of responsibility.

  • Making phone calls to support the work of the field staff.

  • Potential for light graphic design using Canva.

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain record keeping and filing systems for area of responsibility.

  • Making phone calls to support the work of the field staff.

  • Potential for light graphic design using Canva.

  • Project-manage details related to conferences.

  • Research related to prospecting funding opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Travels as required within the assigned territory markets; 30% travel as needed to Augusta, GA.

  • Identifies, secures and media trains local spokespersons.

  • Provides marketing and communications support for development and fundraising events and activations, as appropriate

  • Identifies human interest stories for media coverage, social media posts, internal and external communications channels and event integration

  • Tracks all media coverage via a media tracking system and manages a spokesperson database. Works with video production companies to produce videos for events, social media and other marketing communications resources.

  • Works with photographers to produce photography for events, social media and other marketing and communications resources

Other Job Duties:

  • Develops and implements media events, as appropriate.

  • Works to place Public Service Announcements (PSA) locally.

  • Works with Southeast Region's VP of Communications and Marketing to manage local crises or sensitive issues.

  • Works in collaboration with media advocacy staff to develop appropriate media advocacy strategies and implements strategies, as appropriate

  • Works with executive director and team to manage local paid advertising projects

  • Manages and implements other projects as identified by the executive director

In this role, you will report to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or related field, or some college plus experience.

  • Minimum of two years of work experience in communications, social media, public relations and journalism or any equivalent combination of training and work experience.

  • Experience applying the principles and practices of communications and marketing to the non-profit environment.

  • Experience working as a team member with multiple internal and external constituencies at varying levels: staff, media, external corporations, and volunteers.

  • Experience with crisis communications and sensitive issues.

  • Experience implementing communications campaigns, pitching to media, planning media events, and writing news releases.

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills, including experience with speech writing, news writing for broadcast and print and general business writing.

  • Working knowledge of news media operations, newsgathering, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Drive peer-to-peer fundraising strategies to achieve overall revenue goals. Secure financial contributions by conducting exploratory meetings and revenue generated-focused sales calls. Appropriately document scheduled appointments and results.

  • Recruit, engage and recognize high-level volunteers for participation in local, competitive fundraising campaigns. Provide effective orientation, training, and ongoing coaching for recruited volunteers to increase revenue and volunteer experience.

  • Build powerful partnerships externally and internally.

  • Identify and network with key donors and volunteers. Work collaboratively with volunteers and donors as well as internal staff to broaden the volunteer network and increase mission impact and campaign income.

  • Cultivate donors to increase engagement and giving.

  • Coordinate local donor cultivation events and prospect high-impact donors and volunteers. Lead event logistics - digitally and in-person

In this role, you will report to the VP of Development and will work alongside other directors to meet the overall revenue goal for the First Coast market. Daily travel within the market is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in professional fundraising/development or outside sales, management of special event fundraising, sales, marketing and public relations functions

  • Validated ability to use interpersonal skills to secure donors and attract, recruit, and lead volunteers and collaborate internally and externally

  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation and training

  • Ability to apply good judgment in decision making

  • Possess problem-solving skills and be solution-oriented

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects

  • Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals

  • Ability to use social media and other digital channels

  • Ability to travel daily up to 30% within the First Coast market

  • Must have basic knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. These skills are subject to testing.

Responsibilities

The main accountability of the Senior Development Director is to secure revenue for the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association, being held accountable for an overall fundraising goal and the execution of high-quality campaigns in accordance with the Association standards.

  • Develop and implement a plan of revenue growth through key fundraising events, strategic market partnerships and philanthropic donors.

  • Generate revenue with corporate sponsors and individual donors through cultivation, stewardship, renewal, and deepening engagement to retain and upgrade their financial commitment.

  • Develop relationships with volunteers, sponsors, and key corporate/community leaders to successfully drive participation in Heart Challenge events. Collaborate with internal partners in the market, region, and national center, to forge donor relationships.

  • Identify, recruit, and lead executive volunteer leadership, including implementing a year-round cultivation plan.

  • Build and maintain an ongoing pipeline of prospective high-level corporate sponsors, individual donors, and volunteer leadership to advance our mission.

  • Lead peer-to-peer fundraising in participating Heart Challenge companies to achieve revenue goals.

  • Recruit and lead corporate fundraising team participation in the Heart Walk Campaigns, Hard Hats for Heart campaigns, Field Day campaigns and motivate team to fundraise.

  • Lead donor engagement experiences and events.

In this role, you will report to the Executive Director, Columbia and will lead 1 fundraising director to meet the overall revenue goal for the Midlands market with specific emphasis on the Midlands Heart Challenge campaign.

Local travel within the market is required to counties including Richland, Lexington, Orangeburg, Fairfield, Kershaw and Newberry.

Qualifications

  • Ability to do local, weekly travel and willingness to travel extensively throughout assigned geographical territory; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • At least four years of experience in fundraising or corporate level sales, with at least two of those years supervising staff with a revenue goal.

  • Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices, and techniques.

  • Ability and experience recruiting, training, and encouraging top-level donors and volunteers.

  • Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.

  • Ability to work outside of standard hours which may involve some evenings and/or weekends.
