Job Summary:
As an Aftermarket Data Scientist in the global aftermarket analytics team of Cat Digital, you will be tasked with enabling services growth by collaborating with other teams such as aftermarket leads and insights, business segments, and Cat Digital Analytics to maximize the value extraction of our digital products and services.

Considerations for Top Candidates:

Experience with data analysis and statistical methods such as regression, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, statistical process control, etc.
Practical applications of machine learning techniques such as Clustering, Logistic Regression, CART, Random Forests, SVM or Neural Networks.
Experience in design / development of heavy equipment (ex. automotive, aerospace, engine, transmission, construction, mining, industrial, etc)
Technical and problem-solving skills and evidence of continuous learning in the analytics field
Breadth and depth of knowledge in the application of statistical and/or digital methods to solve business problems
Experience with projects connecting data from various business domains and providing forecasts and insights to run the business profitably

Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc)

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world.
With over 800 employees at the foundry, we are looking for someone who can support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing.
Responsibilities
The role will be a Foundry Manufacturing Engineer at the Mapleton Foundry, which includes:
Direct operations day-to-day process support of melting department.
Continuous process improvement projects implementing automation and robotics.
Support operations continuous improvement (CI cards) to achieve safety goals, capacity requirements, product cost and quality commitments.
The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.
The position is challenged to quickly identify and utilize 6 sigma problem solving methodology resolving problems.
This position will run capital projects for new equipment installations.
Degree Requirement:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

About the Role / What You Will Do
The Parallel Co-op Program is continuous employment for engineering/technology/computer science students focused on product development at Caterpillar. This is an early talent pipeline with the intent to find and develop the best talent. We strive to provide you interesting work & mentoring throughout the year, while you provide Caterpillar some additional resources to complete valuable tasks at hand. Caterpillar pairs you with product development work teams on an annual basis, so you have the opportunity to work full time in-person with the team during the summer and then work part time throughout the schools year.
Parallel Co-Op Engineers work alongside engineering teams to complete design & simulation tasks in support of Caterpillar product development in the following areas:
Product Design: Engineer components & systems for Caterpillar products to meet our customers' needs. Deliver solutions by leading collaboration with cross functional teams throughout our value chain starting from initial concept through to production.
Simulation/Performance Analysis: CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS), FEA - Finite Element Analysis, 3D modelling, root cause investigation; system/subsystem/component design optimization, structural dynamics, development and optimization of Engine, Aftertreatment, Battery, Fuel Cell, Powertrain, and/or Machine System performance.
Test/Validation/Hands on: Apply strong mechanical engineering understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
Controls Development: Develop/Implement control system algorithms using Matlab/Simulink for various control systems including but not limited to engine controllers, machine implement controllers as well as powertrain controllers. Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it as well as testing it prior to a production roll out.
Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design Printed Circuit Board layouts as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Other duties may include working with suppliers, testing the controllers/components in various environments, ensuring that FMEAs [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] are conducted and documented to meet stringent Caterpillar quality requirements.
Embedded Software Development: Develop embedded software in C, C# and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, Inputs and Outputs [Sensors and actuators], speed calculation, Injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi core design and implementation etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems: Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the loop] system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller/control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
Engineering Data Analytics: Ability to write and understand computer code; Python; analytics/data science experience; exposure to machine learning concepts/tools; engineering and statistics fundamentals.

Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it as well as testing it prior to a production roll out.
Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design Printed Circuit Board layouts as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Other duties may include working with suppliers, testing the controllers/components in various environments, ensuring that FMEAs [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] are conducted and documented to meet stringent Caterpillar quality requirements.
Embedded Software Development: Develop embedded software in C, C# and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible and accountable for playing a key strategic role supporting development of the vision, long-term strategy, annual business plan and targets based on internal/external customer and aftermarket parts demand. The SR Manager, Business Development will accomplish this by influencing market sales variance, dealer training, tactical sales plans, integrated services, and product positioning in partnership with the CISD and RISST -Go-to-Market- teams. As a Machine Repair Mechanic at Caterpillar Inc., you will mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment that perform milling, drilling, and grinding functions to cast iron and steel components.
Job duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Troubleshoot and repair the following types of machines and components: Liebherr, DMG, Pietro Carnaghi, Ingersoll, Innse, and Pama and variety of others in the machine shop as well as various cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, welding assets, etc.
Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ball screws, precision bearings, scraping principles, and a variety of other controllers on the machines
Leveling and alignment of machines, alignment of shafts, gearing, welding, lubrication principles, and tube bending
Required Qualifications:
Journeyman Machine Repair/Millwright (state Indentured) or, Associate Degree in Mechanical field or, Union Journeyman Card or, minimum 5 years' experience in the maintenance and repair of machinery and machine tools as a Machine Repair Technician or, equivalent military experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of machinery tools in an industrial environment OR successful completion of an approved, field-related college/technical school program, a machine repair apprenticeship, military training, or equivalent.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of complex machine tools to meet customers' needs.
Ability to read and interpret machine mechanical prints and hydraulic schematics.
To qualify for maximum rate at this classification, employee must satisfactorily demonstrate proficiency in theory and application relative to machine tool repair.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Skilled and experienced with preventative and predictive maintenance practices and technology.
Metal fabrication skills.
Familiar with ball screw repair, repair of precision spindles, and ability to do precision laser alignments on machine tools.
Ability to communicate and build strong relationships with internal/external customers/stakeholders
Strong commitment to safety and teamwork

Set up and operate CNC gear manufacturing equipment to produce high quality production gears and pinions in a safe and efficient manner.
Use of related equipment including: metal cutting tools and inserts, fixtures and clamping equipment, various hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Jib and overhead cranes used for material handling.

Identify work piece and assist in loading of part on to machine.

Required Qualifications:
License Credential with the State of Wisconsin as an Electrician or, Journeyman Electrician/Electronic Technician (state Indentured) or, Associate Degree in electrical/electronics or, Union Journeyman Card or, minimum 5 to 7 years' experience in the maintenance and repair of machinery and machine tools as an Industrial Electrician or, equivalent military experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment in an industrial environment OR equivalent military experience OR successful completion of an approved, field-related college/technical school program
Experience with troubleshooting and repairing relay logic machines and CNC/PLC controlled machines
Experience with AC/DC analog and digital drives

PRIMARY FUNCTION :
Set up and operate CNC controlled horizontal milling center and horizontal boring bar to machine large steel structures, forgings, castings, weldments, and plates.
Use of related components and equipment including: metal cutting tools and inserts, tool holders, collets, tool pre-setter machine, fixtures, work holding and clamping equipment, various hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. Jib and overhead cranes used for material handling.
Description:
Review manufacturing documents for operation sequence, setup and work holding information.
Identify work piece and assist in loading on machine.
Set up and align part using blocks, shims, parallels, wedges, clamps, etc.
Assemble proper cutting tools for operation using tool holder, chucks, collets, drills, taps, reamers, mills, facing, and boring tools, etc. Index cutting inserts as required.
Load CNC program and perform a trial run to check program accuracy when needed.
Use process instructions and G & M code program to operate CNC milling and boring machine
Adjust or select machine parameters such as feed rate, speed, and offset values where required.
Perform very close tolerance machining operations such as facing, boring, counter boring, drilling, tapping, etc. on large structural weldments, castings and forgings.
Perform in process inspection of machined parts as required to maintain quality requirements.
Make appropriate program changes and edits where required. May on occasion need to operate machine manually, without program.
Assist in unloading and remove processed parts from machine.
Clean up work piece removing burrs, chips, coolant, etc.
Keep facilities, material, and work area clean and orderly,
Conform to safety and inspection requirements and perform all the above operations in a safe and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
One to three years of actual, hands on, CNC machining experience; demonstrate good skill and ability on the machines operated.
Read and interpret part drawings and blueprints.
Ability to use quality inspection gaging, indicating, and measuring techniques including verniers, calipers, and micrometers.
Know basic machine shop math, including high school trigonometry.
Know basic machine shop practices.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of machining terminology and procedures.
Demonstrate a safe work history.
Top Candidates will have:
CNC milling and boring of steel and other metals experience preferred.
Familiarity with Siemens and Fanuc controls and operator interface

Decatur Leadership Rotation Program

Job Summary:
This IT Analyst III position requires proficiency in developing and supporting customized engineering application solutions. You will work both independently and with a cooperative team on complex projects that span engineering applications. You will contribute real value by developing, integrating, and/or supporting in-house applications.
What You Will Do:
Responsibilities are within functional lines with individuals assisting in development and support of customized engineering applications.
Performs all duties without close supervision. However, more complex assignments may require closer supervision and assistance.
Works directly on application/technical problem identification and resolution
Works independently on complex modules that may be used by one or more programs or applications.
Works independently on complex projects that may span multiple functional areas.
Under the direction of more senior staff, assists in the development of major application modules and programs.
Participates in integrated testing and user acceptance of application and system components.
Fully knowledgeable of programming languages appropriate to the platform supported, program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, basic system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage, and internal systems.
Designs and implements processes, or process improvements, to aid in development and support.
What You Have:
Requires a relevant degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience.
The incumbent should be knowledgeable of the latest technology in programming languages; platform requirements; computing and software environments; and current development processes and tools.
Strong experience with programming or integration experience would be desirable.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:- Proficient in C++ or Java programming- Proficiency in Python- Experience with CAD software packages- Experience customizing CAD software packages (e.g. Creo, NX, etc.)- Experience implementing software solutions utilizing 3rd party API's- Experience with source code management tools (e.g. SVN, Git, etc)- Experience using Visual Studio, Eclipse, and other development environments

What You Have

Experience in financial management, understanding profitability drivers and tactics for cost control and distribution efficiency.
Previous management experience of a team with a history of strong employee motivation and development.
