The Patient Registration Technician greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area or through telecommunication devices. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems. Performs patient scheduling, registration processes, insurance verification, maintains account information, co-payments, referrals, authorizations, and billing inquiry functions. Reports to Manager/Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Renders exceptional customer service to parents, patients, visitors and co-workers.
Serves as patient liaison for healthcare services.
Assists in maintaining medical records, filing systems, account balances and reconciliation of days accounts receivable.
May perform charge entry and charge batching processes as necessary.
Provides clerical and secretarial support.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
None required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
2-3 years related work experience preferred.
Ability to relate well with the public.
Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
Knowledge of computer data entry processes required.
General knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding and third party payer insurance verification processes and medical terminology preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of department management and residency program faculty and administration, performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to orthopedic and sports conditions in clinical and athletic venue settings. Demonstrates excellence in sports physical therapy practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient, student, community and staff education. Must maintain good standing as an employee in the sponsoring organization as well as resident in sports residency program which involves meeting all criteria, passing all exams, competencies, and fulfilling all the necessary requirements set forth by the program. The resident meets time commitment expectations including, but not limited to, clinical practice, clinical mentoring, didactic curriculum, scholarly activities, self-study, community presentations, athletic venue coverage, and includes weekend activities. Reports to Primary Mentor as well as Residency Program and Sports PT Department leadership, and works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the referring physician(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care, modifying treatment as appropriate in accordance with the plan of care.
Makes independent clinical judgments to provide efficient and effective care that is appropriate and individualized to patient needs, sport/activity and circumstances.
Monitors and documents response to and outcomes of prescribed care.
Supports and provides leadership and guidance to clinical and non-clinical personnel to facilitate visit and patient flow.
Consistently exercises discretion in time management to complete curriculum modules within expected timeframes.
Complies with organization and residency handbooks including any performance improvement, remediation plan or corrective action plans that may be developed as a result of unsatisfactory performance in the residency and/or organization.
Adheres to all organization and residency program policies and stipulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current VA State license or valid license in PT Compact state as a Physical Therapist.
Must possess current BLS/CPR certification.
Must be ATC, EMT or ERA certified/licensed prior to providing athletic venue coverage.

Doctor of Physical Therapy with professional knowledge of sports physical therapy theory and practice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tests, evaluates, treats, diagnoses and prescribes treatment for patients experiencing speech, language, cognition, swallowing and/or communication disorders.
Provides a full range of diagnostic, counseling and rehabilitative services.
Assists in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, protocols to enhance patient outcomes.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Provisional license acceptable during Clinical Fellowship; must obtain Virginia license upon completion.
Current Certification of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language, Hearing Associations (ASHA); or if in Clinical Fellowship, must obtain upon completion.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in speech-pathology/communication disorders.
Knowledge of speech-language pathology principles and theories.
Knowledge and experience in the administration of a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans and equipment associated with communication, language and oral-motor disorder.
Ability to meet on call requirements of department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assesses educational development and achievement, learning style, and learning strengths and weaknesses of children participating in services. - Recommends educational strategies and adaptations based on assessment data. - Acts as liaison with school districts, local educational agencies and other providers as appropriate. - Communicates and/or initiates appropriate referral to community agencies. - Supports patient educational activities and academic functioning during care. - Functions as a collaborative role with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality educational assessment and development. - Monitors and reevaluates the progress of children as needed. - Establishes and maintains positive public relations. - Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS - Certification in at least one area of Special Education is preferred. - Applicants must have or be eligible for the Virginia postgraduate professional collegiate teaching certificate. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - Master's degree in a related field preferred. - Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience with coursework and/or training in general required. Acts as an advocate and mental health educator to the child's primary support group, to include the child's primary care and specialty doctor, parental unit, educational system, legal system, and other parties invested in child's care.
Oversight of Clinical Staff
Ensures that the site is safe, clean, and maintained in accordance with company policies; ensures that all site staff follow charting procedures and regulatory requirements, and that all staff assigned to the site act as a cohesive team.
Assists in orientation and training of clinicians new to the mental health program on work expectations, our commitment to professionalism, and adherence to the mission of CHKD's Mental Health Service Line.
Conducts mock chart audits in accordance with DMAS and Medicaid regulations, when needed.
Generates site-specific systems and processes to improve quality of service, employee, and patient satisfaction.
Oversees clinicians new to the mental health program to ensure accurate diagnoses, mission driven treatment and safety plans, and fidelity to evidence based clinical modalities.
Collaborates with program manager to problem solve staff concerns, support staff development, and provide feedback regarding clinical professional growth as needed.
May have direct reports and perform employee evaluations.
Assists management with scheduling and coverage as needed.
Provides conflict resolution with patients, families, providers, and outside agencies.
Responds to all APT and Behavior Events and supporting clinical needs of the patient/family during event.
Provides clinical supervision as a board-approved supervisor to team members as necessary; signs off on all clinical documentation by supervisees.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current Virginia license as a LCSW or LPC.
Certification in any of the below evidenced-based modalities preferred, advanced training in modalities also considered: Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Mental Health or a related field.
Two years of post-license related work experience preferred.
Experience with implementing evidence-based treatments with children and families and Telemedicine based interventions/assessment required.
Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary.
Ability to work as a multidisciplinary team member.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Social Worker - Specialty Programs is responsible for assisting patients with biopsychosocial problems resulting from acute or chronic illness, disability and/or trauma. The Medical Social Worker completes comprehensive assessment with patients and/or caregivers to obtain psychosocial history and develop individualized treatment plan. Provides support, resources, and case management services. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plan and provides follow up as necessary. Functions in an on-call capacity as necessary to meet the needs of the department and organization. Reports to the Medical Social Work Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides on-going comprehensive psychosocial assessment and counseling services to chronic disease patients and their families to promote their quality of life.
Completes mental health evaluations and makes diagnosis and recommendations as appropriate.
Completes biopsychosocial assessments to determine a patient's appropriateness for medical interventions.
Provides casework services including counseling and conferences with patients, families, and support networks; crisis intervention goal-directed counseling; and discharge planning.
Provides outpatient therapy focused on education, emotional support, self-help, chronic illness, etc. Maintains a small outpatient caseload as needed by identification of patient needs.
Provides mediation between patients, families, and staff.
Facilitates community agency referrals.
Collaborates with schools and employers to provide medical accommodations for patients and their family.
Participates in interdisciplinary care planning and collaboration.
Complete needs assessments and provides resources/ intervention as appropriate.
Advocates on patients' behalf within the setting and with appropriate local, state and federal agencies and programs.
Provides ongoing patient and family education throughout all phases of care. Participates in team review of patient status and makes recommendations based on patient's current psychosocial needs.
Collaborates with other hospitals, and programs related to chronic illness or medical need in order to affirm best practice and maximize support.
Completes home visits as appropriate to determine appropriateness for complex procedures and recovery.
Maintains social work recording and statistics as applicable and participates in QI activities.
Conducts annual patient satisfaction and quality of life surveys as directed.
Completes transition to adult care as directed by and with the medical team.
Provides travel, accommodations, and additional support to families traveling from outside the area to obtain medical care.
Engages in community/ hospital activities to promote chronic illness awareness.
Participates in professional diagnosis specific social work organizations and in other community organizations/activities serving specialty patient population.
Keeps abreast of research/literature/developments in disease management social work and attends appropriate continuing education institutes and conferences.
Nephrology responsibilities:

GENERAL SUMMARY
Reports to the Department Manager, Supervisor or Lead Clinical Lab Scientist and is responsible for following established policies, procedures, and regulations. Performs/assists with various clinical laboratory test procedures and ensures proper maintenance and operation of instrumentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with Manager, Supervisor or Lead Clinical Lab Scientist on a variety of laboratory projects.
Participates in PI, QA, and QC to ensure all regulatory requirements maintain an 'in compliance' status.
Functions in a charge or lead role as assigned for the days operations to ensure safe quality and efficient workflow, practices, staffing and operations.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist in all disciplines by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP).
CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire for designated job roles.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing personnel and other clinicians relative to patient testing and information gathering.
Six to twelve months of laboratory training/job experience necessary in order to become familiar with a variety of laboratory testing procedures.
Ability to resolve technical problems using standard guides and procedures. Analytical skills necessary in order to perform and interpret routine tests and recognize abnormal/critical test results.
Must be able to determine the appropriate course of action for abnormal, atypical or critical test results.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and other Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) software preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Laboratory service areas have work environments with frequent exposure to physical discomforts due to unpleasant odors from specimens and chemicals. Frequent exposure to infectious agents when handling hazardous material, but potential for personal harm or injury is reduced when proper safety and health precautions are followed.
