GENERAL SUMMARY The Occupational Therapy Supervisor - Mental Health is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the mental health occupational therapy team. Functions in an advanced clinical role for the supervision, planning and provision of mental health occupational therapy programs and services. Reports to the Occupational Therapy Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assists with the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, marketing, and program development - Facilitates recruitment, orientation, training and competency of mental health occupational therapy personnel. - Follows all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements - Collaborates with Occupational Therapy managers to develop, document and evaluate competence of mental health therapy personnel.? - Delivers occupational therapy services in accordance with AOTA's standards and policies; the nature and scope of occupational therapy services must be in accordance with laws and regulations. - Assures continued competency of occupational therapy personnel by establishing, maintaining, and updating professional performance, knowledge, and skills. Evaluates performance areas, performance components, and performance contexts. - Develops and documents an intervention plan based on the results of the occupational therapy evaluation and the desires and expectations of the patient and appropriate others about the outcome of service. - Implements the intervention plan through the use of specified purposeful activities or therapeutic methods that meaningful to the patient and are effective for enhancing occupational performance. - Facilitates the transition process in cooperation with the patient, family members, significant others, team, and community resources and individuals, when appropriate. - Maintains current knowledge of legislative, political, social, cultural, and reimbursement issues that affect patients and the practice of occupational therapy. - Systematically assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of mental health occupational therapy services and implements processes to support quality service delivery. - Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS - Current state licensure as an occupational therapist required. - Certification by NBCOT as an OTR. - CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - Master's degree in occupational therapy required. - Advanced knowledge and experience in therapy services principles and theories and the administration of a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans and equipment. - Three to five years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a mental health setting. - Demonstrates clinical excellence in the area of responsibility. - Previous supervisory experience preferred. - Managerial and interpersonal skills necessary to direct, assign, supervise and evaluate subordinates; identify and implement solutions to operational and organizational issues. - Demonstrated success with working with an interdisciplinary team. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
