In this position, you will work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: -Improving Health, Improving Lives-.

This position is in The Esoteric Microbiology Department performing Manual and Automatic ELISAs, Rapid Antigen Assays, Pathogenic culture and identifcation including MALDI-TOF, QC, and other exciting assays.

Schedule for this position will be 1st shift, Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls

  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary

  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed

  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Job Requirements:

. High school diploma or equivalent

. Phlebotomy certification or completed training program from an accredited agency or previous experience as a phlebotomist is required

. Comfortable working under minimal supervision

. Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable

Job Summary:

This position provides oversite of the facility operations and maintenance of Labcorp Corporate locations, including the Burlington Headquarters building, and downtown Burlington buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and foster a team-oriented work environment that values diversity, inclusion, belonging, performance, and talent development.

  • Provide feedback and performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

  • Translate the Company's Facilities and Real Estate program into key initiatives and priorities; develop and deliver against operating and project plans; achieve results in a virtual, and complex environment; and track, measure and communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead and develop team of maintenance technicians, in-house and outsourced, in on-time and on-budget maintenance activities including preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance.

  • Responsible for all hiring, training, and development of Labcorp team members.

  • Develop, monitor and successfully execute facility maintenance, budget. Collaborating with operations leadership on managing overall cost budgets for all parts and maintenance repair costs.

  • Track equipment history and drives improvement utilizing CMMS system, executes PM practices, works with maintenance technicians to plan, schedule routine outages for inspection, routine maintenance, reviews equipment malfunctions, identifies root cause, and develops corrective action plans.

  • Develop and execute capital improvements within locations, partnering with the local operations team, regulatory and compliance and outside partners to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and to designed specifications.

  • Conduct predictive analysis of all process systems and equipment periodically. Identify equipment malfunctions, generate work orders, determine proper repair procedures, and assign appropriate personnel to accomplish the task. Document results based on schedule and priority.

  • Develop, deliver and maintain office space strategy and plans.

  • Vigorously support labcorp' s commitment to safety and support all policies and procedures as established within policy and procedure manuals in addition to labcorp's Safety Programs.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Required :

  • Associates Degree in a Facilities related field or 4 years of active military service or >7 years of commercial facilities experience in one of the building trades.

  • 5 years in facility management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Facilities related discipline.

  • Trade licensure

  • Professional certification ex. CHFM

  • Answer 80+ inbound calls per day from patients, doctor's office and/or private insurance carriers.

  • Initiate payment plans for patients for outstanding balances.

  • Routinely utilize multiple resources to resolve patient inquiries while on the phone

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

  • Develop and execute capital improvements within locations, partnering with the local operations team, regulatory and compliance and outside partners to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and to designed specifications.

  • Conduct predictive analysis of all process systems and equipment periodically. Identify equipment malfunctions, generate work orders, determine proper repair procedures, and assign appropriate personnel to accomplish the task. Document results based on schedule and priority.

  • Develop, deliver and maintain office space strategy and plans.

  • Vigorously support labcorp' s commitment to safety and support all policies and procedures as established within policy and procedure manuals in addition to labcorp's Safety Programs.

Minimum Education and Experience Required :

Essential Functions

Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and in a timely manner.

o Resolve pendings. Retrieve and check specimens against pending list. Document specimen discrepancies. Notify laboratory management when specimen discrepancies are not resolved.

o Prepare workstation and instrumentation for the assigned testing.

o Properly handle specimens and independently resolve technical specimen issues in preparation for analysis and specimen storage. Contact internal customers for clarification as needed.

o Operate instruments to perform testing in accordance with established written procedures.

o Performs routine testing and calculations as required.

o Resolve routine and non-routine assay problems.

Ensure the validity of tests results through the performance of established quality assurance and quality control procedures.

o Perform experiments, as scheduled, for evaluation of new Calibrator and/or QC lots.

Summarize results of investigations and compile data for review by management.

o Document quality control results. Interpret quality control results according to Westgard rules or other established departmental procedures and accurately document biases, warnings and violations of control values.

o Document corrective action for unusual occurrences (e.g. QC violations, instrument related problems).

o Analyze proficiency testing survey samples as patient specimens.

Reagents/Materials/Supplies:

o Receive, open and place in service all reagents/materials according to SOPs.

o Prepare and properly label reagent, quality control, calibrator material.

o Document implementation of new reagents/materials according to SOPs.

o Perform parallel testing, linearity's, stability, other quality control practices needed to ensure validity of material prior to being placed into service.

o Perform inventory control of supplies and reagents as approved by management.

Result Entry (Auto-verification and manual entry).

o When data is manually entered (e.g. QC, patient data) ensure peer review is performed and documented prior to release of results.

o Prepare proper documentation of test results and enter into the information system.

o Generate an appropriate audit trail for all activities

Document and communicate any result reporting problems or inconsistencies to laboratory management.

o Complete testing within the expected turnaround time to meet customers' expectations.

Ensures maintenance of instruments and equipment is performed according to manufacturer and SOP requirements, and documented according to SOP.

o Calibrate instruments, equipment and/or assays as required and document.

o Perform basic instrument and equipment troubleshooting.

o Perform pipette calibrations and document according to SOP.

o Notify laboratory management when an instrument or equipment does not meet specifications.

Comply with regulatory guidelines and Covance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.

Training

o Individual is responsible for maintaining his/her complete up-to-date training file and is accountable for correcting and deficiencies found in his/her training file.

o Individual is responsible for ensuring he/she is trained and training is documented prior to performing a task.

o The individual successfully completes, as scheduled, competency assessment and ensures competency testing documentation is provided to management for review/retention. o Competently performs department duties as set forth in the department training checklist(s).

o May assist in training new employees and follows-up to ensure training is understood.

o Attends, as scheduled, department, mandatory and other meetings and training, as required according to training matrices.

Work to achieve partnership with both internal customers and external clients by:

Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses

Individual must qualify as testing personnel under the following CLIA 1988 and New York State Department of Health requirements:

. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science or other life science with completion of at least a 12-month training program in Medical Technology.

OR

. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited college or university and one year training and/or experience in the specialty in which testing is to be performed. Such training must be equivalent to that received in a school of Medical Technology.

OR

. 90 semester hours from an accredited institution that include the following:

1) 16 semester hours of biology courses, which are pertinent to the medical sciences

2) 16 semester hours of chemistry (at least 6 semester hours of Inorganic Chemistry)

3) 3 semester hours of math

. Completed an accredited clinical laboratory training program, or one year documented laboratory training or experience in the specialty that testing is to be performed.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes

  • Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results

  • Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted

  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes

  • Our forensic toxicology laboratory has a high daily volume and performs a variety of high complexity testing including workplace drug testing and federal drug testing on urine, oral fluid, blood and serum sample types. The Clinical Toxicology laboratory is fast-paced and performs a variety of high complexity testing including therapeutic drug testing, designer panel drug testing, pain oral fluid drug testing, occupational drug testing, unknown analysis testing, pharmaceutical testing, and drug confirmation testing on blood, serum, urine, and meconium sample types through manual and semi-automated extraction techniques. These extracted samples are then analyzed through a variety of instrumentation and software processing platforms from GC to GCMS to LCMS. In addition to a dedicated project, the intern duties will include lab assistant operations that support the technologists who have the industry required educational credentials.

Internship Assignment Summary:

- Work on a dedicated project under the guidance of lab personnel within the Clinical Toxicology lab.

- Analyze and aggregate data into insights for informed decision making.

- Familiarize yourself with lab processes in an industry-leading lab.

- Engage in professional development workshops to enhance your business acumen and professional presence.

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

-Working towards bachelor's degree in chemical, biological science

-Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time

-Work effectively in a fast-paced environment

-Ability perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

-Good written and verbal communication

-Ability to work independently within a team under general supervision

Pay Range: $17.00-$21.00/hr
