The NISC program is seeking an Occupational Safety, and Health Specialist. This professional will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Program.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversees safety or occupational health program elements including fall protection, electrical safety, confined space and hazardous materials. Analyzes jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the risks to employees.
Performs complex technical hazard assessment assignments involving the evaluation and analysis of laboratory data to develop hazard control options for asbestos exposures, mold growth, drinking water exceedances, confined spaces, or other similar health hazards.
Conducts workplace environmental/safety inspections and develops abatement plans to control the identified hazards.
Serves as subject matter expert in identifying and evaluating personal protective equipment needs (fall-protection, electrical, and hazardous materials).
Identifies and evaluates safety training needs in the areas identified above.
Reviews project designs and identifies safety concerns regarding asbestos, fall protection, electrical safety, and other work hazards.
Develops scopes of work for contract resources required to implement specific aspects of EOSH program operations with overall authority and responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
Develops new occupational safety and health programs, policies, procedures, technical reports, briefing papers, and approaches to address broad, new compliance and certification problems, taking into consideration FAA policies, Federal laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines.
May act as a point of contact to provide advice and guidance on the applications of policies and procedures. May be called upon to communicate FAA positions on policies and procedures internally and externally.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety with 2+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree in Occupational Health and Safety with relevant experience .
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of public trust.
Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, teamwork, and risk management.
Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form to individuals at different organizational levels.
Strong writing, time-management, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, large engineering organization.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with different schedules and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
FAA Experience or Military Aviation background highly desired.

Leidos is seeking a full-time Research Epidemiologist to support the Deployment Health Research Department at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. This position will support the Department of Defense (DoD) Birth and Infant Health Research (BIHR) team in their goal to examine reproductive health outcomes among military families and explore possible relationships between military service and reproductive health. The databases used by the BIHR program include large, DoD administrative and medical encounter/claims data that capture information on pregnancies and live births among military families.

The Research Epidemiologist will work closely and collaboratively with Principal Investigators, epidemiologists, analysts and study coordinators to support efforts across the full research project lifecycle. In order to successfully represent the research program at meetings, conferences, and working groups, the Research Epidemiologist must have excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate collaborative research, form expert opinion, and discuss policy decisions.
This is currently a hybrid position and employees are expected to come on-site to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego a minimum of 1 day a week. This is subject to change in the future based on contract requirements.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Participate in all aspects of epidemiologic research, to include study design, analysis, manuscript preparation, and presentation and delivery of study findings at professional meetings and/or in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Use administrative medical encounter and claims data, including ICD and CPT codes, to develop complex algorithms and identify outcomes and covariates of interest.
Use Statistical Analysis System (SAS) software to manage and analyze large datasets.
Design and develop research proposals for funding, including statistical analysis plans.
Effectively deliver research briefings on technical topics to stakeholders including government officials; military medical, policy, and line leadership; funding sponsors; and the general scientific community.
Identify and foster partnerships with collaborators (e.g., military residents and physicians, academic researchers) who are subject matter experts in specialized fields of maternal, infant, and pediatric health.
Participate in scientific activities or meetings representing the BIHR team, the Department, and NHRC.
Serve as a representative for the BIHR team to senior military and other visitors, and in professional settings, both within the Department and externally.

The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Professional to provide support to the Central Service Area (CSA) VOR MON Program for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The ideal candidate will support the program by providing technical and engineering assistance on Environmental Impacts associated with the VOR MON program implementation. The candidate will assist the FAA in implementing regulations promulgated by the Council on Environmental Quality in accordance with Executive Order on Protection and Enhancement of Environmental Quality. The candidate will also assist the FAA in implementing national policy to protect and enhance the quality of human environment and meet national environmental goals associated with the implementation of the VOR MON program. This may require interface with FAA headquarters offices, FAA field offices and other support contractors. This may also require the interface with Public Forum groups and meetings interfacing with all users of the National Airspace System.
Primary Responsibilities:
Will be a member of the Flight Procedures Team. Identify impacts of FAA actions associated with the VOR MON program including, but not limited to: noise, socioeconomic, land uses, air quality, and water quality. Determine fleet mix and times of use of existing aircraft. Determine the noise level from current operations and prepare noise analysis on proposed action in accordance with FAA Order 1050.1f (as amended). Prepare environmental analyses and documents that can include, but not limited to Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Impact Statement, Environmental Assessments, and Noise Impact Statements. Assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPS) compliance and completing interagency and intergovernmental conditions and consultation.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires BS and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience writing and reviewing NEPA documents, including but not limited to: Categorical Exclusions (CATEX), Environmental Assessments (EA) and/or Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
Experience reviewing all NEPA impact categories.
Working knowledge and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications to include: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office and MS Power Point.
Highly developed presentation skills.
Ability to obtain and/or maintain Public Trust security clearance.

The Research Study Coordinator will assist with all aspects of study coordination for several studies examining how individual and organizational factors including operational stressors impact the health and readiness of military service members. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of study implementation including protocol execution, communication with stakeholders, participant enrollment, data collection, and generation of project deliverables. Primary Responsibilities:
Manage operations workflow by developing schedules, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures
Prepare project documentation materials, such as Institutional Review Board protocols, data sharing agreements, and survey approval forms
Coordinate the execution of human subjects research protocols including subject recruitment and data collection
Coordinate the scheduling of data collection events, focus group sessions, meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and briefs to military leaders
Consent study participants and administer questionnaires to study participants

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 8+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
U.S. Citizenship with an Active DoD Top Secret clearance, and possess or be eligible for SCI level access
Experience working in classified and unclassified environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience developing briefings.
Familiar with military documentation and correspondence
Must possess demonstrated professionalism, customer service focus, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and MS Excel) with particular emphasis on word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro and WebEx meeting management and execution.
Experience with administering security processes that ensured security and integrity of classified systems, hardware and data in accordance with established procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience in a government, DOE, or military office.
