Summary You will serve as a Materials Handler of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the receipt, storage, issuance, transshipment of materials and special materials. You will issue materials after verifying all information is correct. You will pack material and items. You will offload and receive classified, non-classified, nuclear ordinance, radioactive, small arms, and special project material. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the duties of a Materials Handler demonstrated by experience working under limited supervision, performing the receipt, storage, issuance, transshipment, and accountability of materials (classified, non-classified, special project), and small arms; Offloading special material types (classified, nuclear, radioactive, small arms, etc.) verifying the material for accuracy; Maintains security of the security strong room; Reads and interprets material and delivery documents; Reviews material issue documents, verifying all material information is matching with recorded information, and issuing material making sure all requirements and paper work are complete; Packs material and items selecting the proper type of container appropriate for the items; Uses necessary cushioning materials around the packed items to prevent shifting, jarring, scratching, or breaking; Matches items to be packed against documents for correctness; Reports discrepancies if unable to resolve; Maintain stock records; Operates materials handling equipment, pallet jack, forklift; Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
