Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Great Lakes office. Sit in Detroit, Minneapolis or Grand Rapids, MI and be part our international engineering practice. This highly motivated individual will design HVAC and plumbing for laboratories, clean rooms, healthcare, and high-tech clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions for unique projects, mentoring a team, interacting with clients, and developing calculations, construction drawings, design reports, and specifications to support mechanical, fire protection and plumbing systems in accordance with building codes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer should be capable of working independently with limited supervision to complete both small and large projects and may serve as a Discipline Representative.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required.

  • Candidate must be well organized, be able to demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.

  • Have knowledge of the ASHRAE standards, NFPA and ICC codes.

  • Have experience with analysis and layout of Plumbing and/or HVAC systems, hydronic piping, medical gas, air distribution and associated products and materials.

  • Serve as technical advisor for team.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepare technical specification sections.

  • Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • BA/BS + 6 years of healthcare facility, Laboratory, or other complex HVAC design experience or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • PE License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough working knowledge of relevant engineering software: REVIT, CAD, load calculation software, Excel

  • Construction phase experience: submittal reviews, on-site inspections, RFIs, change orders, etc.

  • Plumbing and Medical Gas design experience for hospitals and labs

  • Experience preparing proposals, interviewing, communicating with clients

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $150,000.00.
