Primary Objective : Perform calibrations on measurement and test equipment (M&TE) using appropriate reference standards in a wide array of measurement disciplines, including Physical (Mass, Temperature, Humidity, Pressure, Force, Torque, Vibration) Dimensional, and Electrical.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Performs calibration of M&TE using approved calibration procedures, complying with calibration requirements.
Authenticate calibration traceability of M&TE.
Determine measurement standard suitability for calibrating M&TE.
Understanding and consideration of measurement uncertainty components.
Manage time to maximize productivity, meet standard labor times and delivery requirements, maintaining high quality standards.
Develops and applies technical knowledge and experience in calibration operations and metrology.
May perform corrective actions to address identified calibration problems.
Sound critical thinking skills.
Understanding and application of QMS
Maintain calibration records and process documentation.
Utilization of Metrology database (MET/TEAM).
Adapt equipment, measurement standards, and procedures to accomplish unique measurements.
Strong customer service focus and support regarding calibration and measurement.
Effectively communicates process improvement ideas.
Actively involved in continuous improvement projects.
Effective email communication, structure, and etiquette.
Practices 5S lean principles to facilitate orderly and efficient processes and to minimize safety hazards.
Keep Manager and team members informed of progress, problems and changes in processes and procedures.
Effective communication regarding personal development, scheduling, quality and morale.
Calibration experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Preferred, Not required:
ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)
Maintains measurement uncertainty budgets and analysis.
Maintains Process Measurement Assurance Program (PMAP)
Advanced calibration skills with a larger scope of competence in 3-4 disciplines.
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills sufficient for most complex calibration or measurement problems.
Deals effectively with internal and external customers, including field service personnel.
Independently writes calibration procedures.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
85-95% time spent calibrating.
5-15% on infra-structure support and improvements, including training and QMS.
Enhanced level. Task mix is predominantly complex. Requires extensive judgment in determining work methods & techniques.
May have shared responsibility with Manager, Manufacturing
Engineer, Metrologist or Engineer for small scale projects related to calibration and metrology.
Manage concurrent projects and responsibilities to achieve all requirements and meet all deadlines.
Performs mentoring training.
Works with minimal supervision & general instructions.
Relies on experience & established procedures to achieve assigned tasks.
May perform limited Lead tasks as assigned.
Developing leadership skills.
Assignments generally completed independently.
Shares responsibility with Metrologist Manufacturing Engineer, Manager for defining project objectives & methods.
Takes ownership of laboratory activities.
