We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer in Fort Worth or Houston, Texas. The Senior Engineer is responsible for project management and product design for new product development and existing product improvement projects through the SPM Oil & Gas API Q1 Design Process, from conceptualization through implementation. The scope of the projects includes development of designs, with associated 3D models suitable for production, and performance of design analysis related to structural, kinematic, and fluid dynamics specifications. Equipment supported, includes conventional wellhead, production valve, and frac rental market. The role requires operational adherence to sound engineering practices, excellent communication skills along with the ability to train and mentor technical personnel.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Designs new products and intelligent systems that meet safety, performance, and API 6A and API 16C specifications.
Manages multiple engineering projects, including product improvement analysis and design modification projects, while maintaining priorities and NPI project development schedules.
Manages design improvement and performance advancement projects for existing products and equipment through design analysis and proto-type testing, collaborating closely with Manufacturing and Operations.
Compiles and analyzes the overall design requirements to develop product specifications for final designs, as well as specifications for buy-out parts and sub-assemblies included in the designs.
Produces functional requirements, documenting interface specifications, performance objectives and recommended technologies and vendors.
Compiles and analyzes operational, test and research data to establish performance standards for equipment and intelligent systems.
Uses appropriate engineering tools to create 3D models of equipment, fabrication drawings, systems layouts and schematics.
Uses appropriate tools for FEA analysis and CFD analysis of structural, kinematic and fluid dynamics designs evaluations.
Interfaces and effectively collaborates with manufacturing, quality, field operations and sales for design inputs and performance evaluation.
Interfaces and collaborates with key vendors, essentially performing vendor qualifications based on product specifications and vendor technical expertise and engineering support capability.
Collaborates with broader, global SPM Oil and Gas engineering capability, which includes design analysis, product knowledge, additive manufacturing and intelligent systems expertise.
Basic Qualifications:
Top candidates will also have:
Experience in product design, engineering analysis and or project engineering.
Some experience in a manufacturing environment for engineered products with exposure to API Q1, ISO 9001, Lean Six Sigma or other process and quality management systems.
Experience using design software and CAD software applications and processes, preferably Solidworks and Solidworks EPDM.
Sound understanding of solid body mechanics, materials, and fluid dynamics.
Capable of managing project objectives across diverse, cross-functional teams across distributed locations.
Additional Information:
This role is a hybrid role based in either Fort Worth, Texas or Houston, Texas.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Travel may include field service engineering for new product deployments or operations and sales support in Canada and US. Travel should not normally exceed 15% of time but may include 1-to-2-week training and support trips (should not exceed 3 per year).
