Job Description:
If you like being on the forefront of product development and improvement, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the team at our Aurora, IL facility as a Hydraulic Components Engineer! Caterpillar enjoys the strongest reputation in the industry, and, in this critical role, you will help to continue this tradition by using deep technical expertise to oversee design controls for hydraulic pumps and motors. Role will be focused on purchased finished components for Medium Wheel Loader, Motor Grader and Medium Tractor products. Incumbent will sit on the Hydraulics International Cross Functional Team (ICT) and will require competency in project management, negotiation, building consensus and collaborating with other business units, suppliers, customers and teams.
Responsibilities may include:
-Conceiving and providing practical product design applications using complex technical principles
-Creating concepts and direct the design and development of complex engineering projects
-Preparing project plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates
-Interacting with all value streams both facility and extended
-Conducting technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products
--Coordinating design validation and prototype machine fit up.
-Providing guidance to other engineers responsible for other portions of the product/project to ensure targeted dates are achieved
-Evaluating, defining, and resolving design and manufacturing problems
-Traveling to foreign and domestic locations if required
-Using technical expertise and product knowledge to lead multiple projects
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Materials Science from an accredited program
10 or more years of progressive engineering experience, including experience in design and/or testing
Ability to communicate technical information effectively with cross functional audience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Materials Science
Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems and hydraulic components (pumps, motors, main control valve, steering valves, hydraulic cylinders, brake blocks, hydro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic pressure and flow control valves)
6 Sigma Black Belt or Significant experience in project Leadership
Knowledge in pro-engineer/Creo2
