The Occupational Health Nurse is an advanced nurse generalist applying clinical occupational nursing practices in large high-volume medical clinics, stand-alone focus facility medical stations or administrative office environments. You may be assigned special assignments and to support the local Human Resources department's strategy. You will serve as a highly skilled, autonomous occupational health nurse within the Corporate Medical Department, servicing stakeholders that may include Operations, EH&S, HR organizations, Compensation and Benefits and the Corporate Medical team.
What You Will Do:
Delivery of comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury.
Function as an autonomous nurse with the ability to respond independently to most clinical situations. Including health assessments and screenings for employees who are experiencing health related issues at work.
Respond to and even lead on-site medical emergency response.
Understanding health and safety risks present in the facility. Assist in preparing facility and employees for action in the event of a safety crisis.
Represent the Corporate Medical Department, its policies and strategy.
Seek ways to innovate, improve and create best-in-class occupational medical practices. Conduct training and continuous education for employees on health topics relevant to the workplace.
Assist in case management services for employees on medical leave of absence from work. Communicate with HR and senior leaders on return-to-work status.
Maintains accurate and complete electronic medical record, following all confidentiality and HIPPA guidelines. Addressing health and safety concerns with HR.
Support C+B and HR in the administration of various disability plans and payroll policies.
Receive and critically evaluate medical documentation to determine the need for medical leave and the appropriateness of both medical restrictions and accommodations.
Consult and provide feedback to employees and providers on evidence bases practice guidelines.
Provide occupational support, health coaching and referrals to appropriate care.
Assist occupational physicians during conduction of employee health evaluations.
Compile and maintain accurate and complete records within appropriate database(s)
What You Have:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.
3 to 5 years of job-related experience in occupational medicine or acute care.
Nursing Assessment and Care - HNU: Knowledge of the policies and activities regarding nursing assessment and care; ability to assess patients' nursing care needs, develop and implement a nursing care plan, monitor progress, and adjust as necessary.
Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) Compliance : Knowledge of regulations and standards regarding the occupational safety and health of personnel working within an organization; ability to apply relevant regulations and standards to daily work activities.
Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Medical Record Keeping: Knowledge of the concepts, methods, tools, and applications used in medical record management: ability to document, manage and maintain patient medical records following established processes and guidelines.
Time Management: Ability to accommodate off shift needs based on the business need. Manage time and complete tasks on shift to prioritize work life balance when possible.
Medical Charting: Understanding the source of injury, reporting on the core factors, making assessments, and recording information regarding the injury.

This position does not offer relocation assistance.
This position requires 10% or less travel.
This is a 1st shift position, but the successful candidate must be willing to work flex hours on alternate shifts as needed. Ability to accommodate off shift needs regarding health and safety.
