Navy Aviation Systems Engineer

The Naval Aviation Systems Engineer role will be on a dynamic team at our client's site in Washington, D.C. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.

Serco is seeking an energetic self-starter who wants to be part of a new ship building program to support our Navy customer's Program Office. Our team supports the customer in the design, construction, and test of the U.S. Navy's new Fast Frigate warship. Reporting to the Serco Systems Integration Lead, the Aviation Systems Engineer will lead the integration of all aviation systems to be delivered to project for integration into the platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Interface directly with government customers, PARMs, and the shipbuilder to gain an understanding of the aviation system requirements and specifications.

  • Work with clients, users, and management to identify areas of concern, resolve issues and support integration efforts within the Aviation systems enclave.

  • Work with government clients to identify and manage system risks within the Aviation systems portfolio.

  • Assist the U.S. Navy test team in developing test scripts that will verify the proper functionality of the aviation systems within controlled lab test environments.

  • Develop briefing presentations and other written reports of analysis, and findings for briefing to government clients.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A current or active DoD Secret clearance.

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering plus five to seven years of Naval Aviation experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. In those cases, references will be required to validate experience cited.

  • Five to eight years of professional coding experience with object-oriented programming languages.

  • Ability to work within a team environment reporting findings and analysis back to the team both orally and in writing.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills necessary to function within a team environment.

  • Direct experience with Naval aviation systems a plus.
