The Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division has an exciting opportunity for an Electrician-Operator in Butte, Montana. As an Electrician-Operator you are responsible for monitoring all plant conditions and parameters to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the station.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Reporting to the Lead Technician, the Instrument / Electrical / Operator will support the business objectives by focusing on the following areas:
Record and keep daily logs in Microsoft Excel / Word and the Operations Log Book of any maintenance and/or operations activities.
Safely troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical / instrument equipment, reciprocating engines and/or balance of plant.
Perform maintenance work to ensure it is carried out to within company guidelines and manufacturers recommendations.
Ensure all safety equipment is utilized and is available in the work areas. Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures. Ensure that any work permit or safety system is complied with. When appropriate submit safety suggestions, which will improve overall plant operations. Review and make recommendations on all safety suggestions submitted through your position.
Keep abreast of company policies and safety practices, keep operations / maintenance group advised of any changes. Promote safety and environmental awareness and report any accidents.
Perform industrial maintenance activities including, but not limited to, the operation, maintenance and repair of pumps, fans, engines, fuel systems and remaining balance of plant operations.
Power generating facility operations including, but not limited to, activities that involve local control panels, supervisor control and data acquisition systems, keys, switches, buttons, handles, valves, etc.
Recognize abnormal sounds, vibrations, potential safety problems and the ability to take appropriate action to prevent damage to equipment, downtime or allow a serious safety hazard to develop.
Follow company safety and environmental policies and practices. Adapting work practices which are consistent with the letter and spirit of these policies and participate to the fullest degree in programs aimed at increasing personal safety and environmental awareness.
Perform not only instrument / electrical duties but provide mechanical assistance when needed with instructional direction.
Perform any task assigned by a lead technician and/or supervisor.
The ability and willingness to be on-call 24/7 with some weekend / night shift duties.
Basic Qualifications:
2-year technical degree in Instrumentation or Electricity and/or 3 to 5 years of experience in the area of electrical equipment or electrical/instrumentation controls.
Motivated self-starter and the ability to perform some jobs and tasks on your own without the help and/or supervision of others.
Top candidates will also have:
The functions, programming and applicable software of PLC's, Frequency Drives, and other automated systems.
Fundamental knowledge of general power generation and/or industrial applications.
The ability to identify a potential problem and correct it before it results in equipment damage or downtime.
The ability to troubleshoot and resolve instrument / electrical problems.
The ability to use and understand technical manuals to find pertinent information and order spare parts for warehouse stock.
The ability to safely troubleshoot, maintain, repair and overhaul low, medium, and high voltage breaker and switchgear components.
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and operations / maintenance manuals.
Be able to work with a large group of workers and follow the rules of conduct of a foreign company.
