Description
When you are a Logistics Support at Caterpillar, you will be under limited direction and perform a variety of logistic support activities in the areas of logistics planning, materials planning, packaging analysis, or order analysis and other duties as assigned. Additional job responsibilities include:
Assist NPI and current production programs related to logistics functions
Plan for supplier material deliveries, track information on suppliers including replenishment schedules, and monitor packaging quantities and usage.
Analyze inventory reports and determine the quantity and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule.
Initiate purchase requisitions for indirect materials as appropriate.
Create and review procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize cost.
Use of multiple Caterpillar information systems to track and plan for material, inventory, and shipping.
May prepare receiving report and note record shortages and damaged materials. Prepares and/or assembles required shipping documents.
Investigate and resolve receiving or order discrepancies and notify appropriate personnel of results or required actions.
Analyze product workflow and develops logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory.
May rotate to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities.
Follow and utilize Lean Manufacturing and CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
Basic Qualifications
2 Year Degree or equivalent (Current enrollment in an accredited 4-year college degree program at a junior level status is considered equivalent to a 2-year degree.) OR 3-5 years of related experience in Materials or Logistics Operations
Advanced computer skills
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Top Candidates will also have
High level of Caterpillar system knowledge with logistics software (SAP/Mach 1)
Prior experience with receiving or warehouse functions
Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders
Strong commitment to demonstrated safety, quality, and teamwork
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Advanced problem solving and trouble shooting ability
Ability to prioritize work
Additional Information
Shift: 1st Shift
Hours: M-Th 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Mandatory Overtime as necessary
Salary Grade: L10
Work location: Clayton, NC and travel to remote locations in Smithfield, NC and Waco, TX (
