Mechanic (Journeyman) - Plant Bowen
Euharlee, GA (Cartersville)
Summary
Perform mechanical maintenance activities on electric generating units and balance of plant systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Maintenance activities include preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, planned and unplanned corrective maintenance on both safety-related and non-safety-related components.
Normal work schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
Must be available to work weekends, nights, and storm duty as necessary to support plant operations.
Job Knowledge
Must have experience repairing pumps, valves, gearboxes, etc.
Must have experience welding (Stick, MIG, TIG)
Must have experience using an oxygen/acetylene torch
Must have experience using precision measurement tools
Must have experience aligning pumps and motors
Must have experience rigging and lifting heavy equipment
Must be able to read and understand plant system and equipment prints
Must be able to read, understand and apply technical instruction manuals
Must be able to use power and hand tools
Must possess intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, Maximo a plus)
Intermediate skills at running lathes, end mills, etc., preferred
Skilled in the operation of forklifts and/or aerial lifts preferred

This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Georgia Power and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). The union determines seniority which is used to select shift, vacation, and holidays.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Successful completion of the POSS/MASS pre-employment test is a pre-requsisite to move forward in the selection process.
