The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN has an opening for a Material Requirements Planning Supervisor . Primary responsibility is to supervise a team of Distribution Technicians, and Shipping/Receiving Clerks and Analysts within the Logistics/Distribution Team in the execution of material planning/ordering from Warehouses to POU, outbound parts order fulfillment and inbound material logistics functions ensuring material availability. Responsible for team performance related to timely receiving and shipping as well as supplier collaboration to improve overall service to internal/external customers.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Direct Reports for this position include Distribution Technicians (Material Storage Controllers), Shipping/Receiving Clerks and Analysts as well as team leads for production areas and consists of full time and agency employees.
Leads team to ensure material availability meets customer needs and facility objectives through timely delivery of material from internal and external suppliers to both Machine Shop and Assembly production areas.
Responsible for packaging and shipping processes for outbound parts orders
Accountable for identification of distribution quality issues (handling damages, proper packaging, correct part number/quantity, etc) as well as feedback process with supplier/warehouse to implement corrective actions.
Ensures the execution of ordering, storage and presentation of materials to point-of-use, and is accountable for identifying and driving process improvements with teams scope
This role will utilize strong communication skills as it will build relationships and interface daily with the entire Value Chain including suppliers, Purchasing, operations management in both Assembly and the Machine Shop, Engineers and Engineering managers, Business Resources, Releasing Analysts, Warehousing personnel (internal and external) and other Supply Chain functions.
Incumbent will utilize various systems that drive material planning, supplier management and material tracking functions including MRP, LOGNET, MRC, Power BI, MTS, and Use of internal and external freight tracking systems may also be required.
Accountable for tracking and timely resolution of receiving/shipping grief.
Responsible to lead direct reports through Career Development planning including Career Path mapping, training and opportunities for professional and personal development.
Formally evaluate performance of direct reports through mid-year and year end evaluation process and address all personnel issues.
Incumbent will lead the selection process of both full time and agency employees as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree and 3 years of Supply Chain experience OR 5 years of supervisory experience in a Logistics, Distribution, or Supply Chain related environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service focus
Knowledge/understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience in a Purchasing, Procurement, or other Material Planning in a manufacturing environment
3 years of supervisory experience in Logistics or Distribution
APICS, CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management)) or CSPC (Certified Supply Chain Professional) National Certification
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Solid supply chain planning, demand and orders, logistics and manufacturing knowledge
Practical knowledge/experience with Material Planning (MRP, SAP) and Material Tracking systems
