The Role: Responsible for purchasing all direct and non-direct materials required for project and aftermarket sales. Purchases may include but are not limited to: machine services, PVC, castings, forging, fabrications, packaging services, MRO items and electrical components. This position will also support expediting, vendor selection, product launches, production scheduling and operations, including various cross boundary duties.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Issues P.O.s for indirect & direct spend-working with GEP for Indirect purchases.
Works with various Xylem entities including GBS, GEP to add new vendors to the system where applicable.
Prepares purchase orders and monitors inventory requirements.
Monitors supplier performance for on time delivery and overall product quality.
Works with Sanitaire Buyers and scheduling teams to ensure on time PO receipt of goods
Provides full support to quality personnel and engineering personnel to resolve any supplier related issues
Utilizes total cost analysis to evaluate supply chain options
Assists with selection of qualified vendors.
Works closely with the Production Scheduler to enable accurate forecasting and delivery schedules.
Works closely with the Senior Buyer to make sure PO's are issued on time
Works with logistics to expedite out going shipments, as well as supporting trade compliance efforts as needed.
Understand commodities/markets to ensure competitive prices.
Participates along with Senior buyer in establishing JIT programs and contracts to reduce lead time, improve quality and reduce overall inventory where applicable
Collaborates with all departments to ensure on-time delivery.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or equivalent is preferred; or at least three years of experience in water and/or wastewater industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with ERP systems is a must.
Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced work environment and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
Effective communication (both written and spoken) and problem solving skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
APICS CPIM certification a plus
Lean Six Sigma Green belt certified a plus
