GENERAL SUMMARY
Reports to the Practice Manager of the Child Abuse Program. Responsible for diagnosing and managing acute and chronic manifestations of child abuse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works collaboratively with law enforcement agencies, child protective services or other agencies responsible for investigating possible maltreatment.
Serves as a member of various community committees and boards related to child abuse and neglect.
Provides expert testimony in court and adheres to professional standards for expert witness testimony.
Engages in activities constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction, clinical guidance and supervision of a licensed physician.
Performs a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient patient care activities to support the medical practice with effective utilization of healthcare resources.
Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education.
Effectively utilizes healthcare resources and communicates with other members of the healthcare team.
Runs clinics independently or under physician supervision.
Maintains accurate medical records and completes documentation in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current State Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) required.
Current NCCPA certification required.
Required to maintain State licensure, certification (NCCPA), and educational and employment application requirements as a Physician Assistant during employment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must have completed an accredited Physician Assistant Master's Degree Program.
Pediatric experience preferred.
Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
Increased Security Clearance Required for Job Roles in Medical Tower II: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
