Job Description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Reports to the Practice Manager of the Child Abuse Program. Responsible for diagnosing and managing acute and chronic manifestations of child abuse.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works collaboratively with law enforcement agencies, child protective services or other agencies responsible for investigating possible maltreatment.

  • Serves as a member of various community committees and boards related to child abuse and neglect.

  • Provides expert testimony in court and adheres to professional standards for expert witness testimony.

  • Engages in activities constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction, clinical guidance and supervision of a licensed physician.

  • Performs a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient patient care activities to support the medical practice with effective utilization of healthcare resources.

  • Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education.

  • Effectively utilizes healthcare resources and communicates with other members of the healthcare team.

  • Runs clinics independently or under physician supervision.

  • Maintains accurate medical records and completes documentation in a timely manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current State Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) required.

  • Current NCCPA certification required.

  • Required to maintain State licensure, certification (NCCPA), and educational and employment application requirements as a Physician Assistant during employment.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have completed an accredited Physician Assistant Master's Degree Program.

  • Pediatric experience preferred.

  • Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.

  • Increased Security Clearance Required for Job Roles in Medical Tower II: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
