Job Description

To successfully lead a team to develop high-quality electronic control module (ECM/ECU) product lines for engine, machine, and power distribution systems that meet complex requirements and low-cost producer (LCP) targets. Partner with suppliers to deliver production components and help the systems engineers integrate successfully into various applications.

Job Duties

The ECM/ECU platform lead engineer is accountable for managing 1 or more ECM/ECU platforms. This includes leading NPI programs to deploy new ECM/ECUs into production as well as maintain these platforms after launch. This will include managing any supply chain issues, quality concerns, and other program maintenance activities.

Key activities include:

  • Work with ECM product line manager on transitioning new technology projects to new production introduction (NPI) projects

  • Lead NPI projects from launch through gateway 7 ensuring we meet all requirements (technical, quality, cost, timeline, etc)

  • After ECM is launched into production, monitor cost and quality along with validation of any changes

  • Contributes to defining the direction for product design, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results.

  • Develop and maintain project plans and schedules in collaboration with supplier as well as internal purchasing, systems, and product group teams

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

  • Accountable for meeting project scope, milestones, and cost objectives.

  • Work closely with technical lead in the ECM hardware team as well as with our purchasing, system, and product group partners.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering degree (Electrical, Computer or similar curriculum) plus 7-9 years of engineering experience or a master's degree in an Engineering curriculum plus 5-7 years of engineering experience

Top Candidates will also have

  • Experience with complex electronic components like electronic control units (ECU)

  • Experience with chip level circuit analysis including electronic control units including ICs like microprocessors

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP),

  • Experience with electronics validation including thermal, vibration, reliability, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing as well as safety and regulatory compliance

  • Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers

  • Demonstrated ability to determine and meet project objectives and timelines.

  • Collaborating with suppliers to support the development and production of prototype and production hardware
