To develop the strategy and lead the execution of the activities of Internal Audit's Technology & Analytics team. Direct and oversee Internal Audit's use of technology and data analytics to enable efficient, effective, and robust audit testing and risk assessment that identifies key risks, insights, and opportunities for improvement. Direct and manage communications and reporting for key audiences including executive leadership and the Supervisory Committee. Establish processes and procedures that align with Navy Federal and industry standards. Serve as Internal Audit liaison for enterprise-wide data analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead execution of Internal Audit's strategy for leveraging technology and data analytics to drive deeper and more robust audit coverage

  • Collaborate with audit teams throughout all phases of the audit lifecycle to facilitate data-driven audit work

  • Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to test against large data sets and full populations, identify anomalies and trends, and recommend opportunities to strengthen controls and risk management practices

  • Develop processes and procedures to access, extract, analyze, and retain data that ensures data quality and integrity in alignment with Navy Federal standards

  • Facilitate deep relationships with business partners to drive increased access to data and reduce data acquisition pain points

  • Oversee the development and implementation of technology solutions for improved IA efficiency and effectiveness, including implementation of automation and continuous auditing techniques

  • In collaboration with the Information Services Department, oversee administration and maintenance of Internal Audit technology solutions in accordance with Navy Federal standards

  • Implement quality assurance activities to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and reliability of Internal Audit's use of data analytics

  • Collaborate and provide strategic guidance and expertise to audit teams regarding the coverage of models and model risk during operational and integrated audits

  • In collaboration with Internal Audit executive leadership, lead the development of department-wide Objectives and Key Results to measure and monitor Internal Audit's strategic transformation

  • Oversee the creation and continuous improvement of metrics, dashboards, and reporting that provide accurate, timely, and relevant insights on Internal Audit's operational and strategic goals

  • Manage and enhance Internal Audit reporting to address the needs of executive leadership and the Supervisory Committee

  • Develop and facilitate training for the entire Internal Audit staff on data analytics tools and techniques to enhance the team's data analytics capabilities

  • Represent Internal Audit on enterprise-wide initiatives related to data analytics

  • Partner with leaders across Navy Federal and leverage enterprise-wide solutions in data analytics tools to enhance Internal Audit's own technology suite

  • Provide overall leadership to large strategic projects or programs; ensure effective management of projects from inception through implementation

  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge and business processes to other business units

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and legislation

  • Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees

  • Establish performance goals and priorities

  • Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals

  • Develop, mentor and counsel staff

  • Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)

  • Ensure section/branch goals and objectives align with division/department strategy

  • Ensure efficiency of operations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in Risk Management, Internal Controls, and Audit concepts and practices

  • Extensive experience using various data analytics tools and techniques and statistical modeling software

  • Expert in serving as the conduit between technology experts, business leaders, distilling complex problems and delivering actionable analytics to various audiences including executive leadership

  • Significant experience in demonstrating innovation, thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving highly complex business problems

  • Significant experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals

  • Significant experience supervising and leading professional employees

  • Expert skill leading with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence

  • Expert skill to influence, negotiate and & persuade to reach agreeable exchange & positive outcomes

  • Expert skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

  • Advanced skill interacting with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and vendors; deliver expert guidance to management including Executive Management and C-level suite

  • Significant experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and building partnerships across various functions

  • Expert skill applying results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment

  • Expert skill producing desired results and achieving goals and objective

  • Expert skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role, providing vision and strategic thinking around a full range of decisions and issues

  • Significant experience in change management processes, including strategies, business processes, education and communication

  • Advanced knowledge of project/program management processes and methodologies

  • Expert skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely

  • Expert analytical/quantitative, reconciliation and deductive reasoning skills

  • Expert database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics, Analytics, Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
