Job Purpose

We are actively searching for Learning & Development Analytics Consultant with a strong understanding of people data, workforce development, and learning and development processes, plus a passion for data and analytics with the corresponding communication skills to effectively reinforce what matters most.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise and knowledge to assist with the planning and implementation of high impact learning and development solutions, and assess the success of key strategies and initiatives across the company. You will have the opportunity to conduct various analysis, measurement, reporting, data visualization, and compelling storytelling across many facets of Caterpillar's global business.

The Learning & Development Analytics Consultant will be a critical part of the Learning and Development Center of Excellence (COE) team, and will be responsible for designing, developing, delivering Talent Development Analytics & Insights including the development and delivery of recurring or ad-hoc analysis, customized scorecards or dashboards, and supporting a larger talent development data strategy.

This work includes:

  • Consolidating and analyzing talent development related data from multiple sources (Workday, external learning content providers, internal survey data, and more)

  • Ensuring integrity/accuracy and structure of data to help support or provide business value

  • Developing and delivering of scorecards/dashboards to analyze and interpreting the data in light of the larger business context to provide the organization with insights

  • Using Workday reports, MS Excel, Power BI, and other automation tools

  • Deploying and empowering others to learn and leverage dashboards to inform local business decisions and drive productivity/efficiencies while reducing/controlling costs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in quantitative or related field such as marketing, human resources, data analytics, business analytics, computer science, engineering, economics, math, or statistics

  • 3 or more years of experience developing reports in an enterprise reporting tool with proficient knowledge of databases and business systems

  • 3 or more years of previous experience using research, data, and external information sources to support decision making

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA) with a concentration in a quantitative or related field such as marketing, human resources, data analytics, business analytics, computer science, engineering, economics, math or statistics.

  • 3 years of progressive work experience with learning management systems and/or learning record management

  • 3 years working in HR Talent Development with learning solution design and delivery experience

  • 1 year of experience in Workday Learning HCM

  • Technical aptitude and experience designing and deploying advanced dashboards and visualizations with various applications and systems including MS Office, Advanced level MS Excel, SQL language, DAX expressions, and Power BI authoring and publishing

  • Understanding of predictive analytics and other business-related data analysis strategies

  • Working knowledge of LMS data structures including SCORM, AICC, and xAPI

Key Business Partners

  • You will be a critical member of the centralized Learning Experience Platform (LXP) team and work closely with other HR analytics team members embedded in central Workday support groups, HR IT, and Global IT teams.

  • You will play a critical role by interfacing regularly with dedicated functional development teams (for example Engineering, Marketing, and Procurement) and many vertical line-of-business organizational learning leads/teams who design, deploy, track, and improve specific learning solutions across the company. You will enable, support, teach and coach the broader Learning and Development community on leveraging data and analytics tools.

  • You will regularly collaborate with multiple external vendors such as Workday, LinkedIn Learning, Pluralsite, Coursera, Etc. to ensure data sharing standards are met and valuable insights are achieved.

  • Finally, you will collaborate with other HR talent workstreams (for example Talent Acquisition, Employee Insights, Talent Management, Workforce Planning, and Onboarding) to align practices and optimize the way the HR community utilizes data analytics.

Essential Functions

  • You will use tools such as Power BI, Workday Learning reporting, Excel, and PowerPoint to design and deliver dashboards, reports, or infographics

  • You will create and maintain automated data visualizations to aid with the analysis of workforce development programs and initiatives

  • You will partner with other analytics team members to standardize models, templates, and/or documentation

  • You will design and recommend dashboards with key metrics for talent development to better align resources and drive better decision making

  • You will identify, analyze and forecast trends into meaningful visualizations and develop presentations for leadership as needed

  • You will evaluate trends on process and measuring organizational effectiveness and make recommendations for further optimization

  • You will at times lead the analytical approach of special projects for key learning initiatives of the organization including developing timeline and objectives, performance standards, and engaging stakeholders from cross functional departments

  • You will lead process improvements to ensure high integrity and accuracy of talent development data through audits and governance

  • You will train and mentor team members across the organization on how to best utilize talent development data and visualizations to improve business decisions and drive measurable results
