The ITW StampTech Fastener TM Division serves the major OEMs and Tier suppliers in the North American automotive market. The division supplies stamped metal fasteners and engineered fastener assemblies that leverage our deep-draw stamping technologies. The annual revenue for the division is approximately $160M. The Staff Accountant I is a key owner of the Accounts Payable process in support of our valued business partners. This ownership includes review, matching, accurate and timely payment of invoices in compliance with policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include review and approval of Concur T& E and P-Cards expense reports.
The successful candidate will need to be a team player, with strong organizational, time management and critical thinking skills. Maintain accounts/financials records in accordance with ITW Policies and procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Receives guidance and direction from their manager & other more senior accounting professionals.
Ownership of the accounts payable process in compliance with ITW Policies and Procedures.
Coding of GL accounts, location, and cost center.
Ensuring that expenditures are approved in compliance with the Expenditure Authorization Policy.
Processing supplier payments.
Maximize 80 cash discount opportunities.
Working knowledge of sales and use tax. Review transactions for compliance with Connecticut and Kentucky laws and record our liability accordingly.
Review and investigate the unvouchered receipts report for unusual or aged transactions. Work with peers and our business partners to solve. Identify recurring themes, suggest, and implement corrective actions.
Reviewing and update requisitions.
Review and approve T&E and P-Cards transactions in compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Maintain electronic and physical records in an orderly fashion in compliance with ITW Record Retention Policies.
Perform the month-end closing process based on the month-end closing check list.
Accurately prepare and submit monthly journal entries.
Performs reconciliations including accounts payable, received not vouchered and intercompany.
Support the intercompany netting process.
Maintain the miscellaneous cash log.
Support physical inventory.
Expected to work in a cross functional, team environment.

Update work instructions as necessary.
Continuous improvement using ITW Toolbox principles.
Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.

A bachelor's degree in accounting or other related field and 1-2 years' experience in an accounting role; OR H.S. Diploma/GED and 5+ year's demonstrated experience.
Working knowledge of accounting principles and applications.
Proficient in Word, Outlook, Suite, PowerPoint, IT applications and general office equipment.
Intermediate user in Excel applications
Detail-oriented, well organized, self-motivated with ability to multi-task
Understanding and maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports
Excellent communication skills (oral/written) and the ability to interact effectively with all levels within the company, suppliers, and customers
Ability to maintain office core hours. Some overtime as required
