Technical & Project Solutions (T&PS), Project Services Department

This posting is for one Project Controls Supervisor position:

East Supervisor - Will be in support of the generating facilities in the Georgia Power footprint

WORK LOCATION

  • This position will be located in the Atlanta metro area, however candidates living outside of the area may be considered with the expectation that they could successfully telework and would be willing to travel to work and/or field location on a routine (to be determined) and as-needed basis.

  • This position will require a mix of both field and office work.

  • Some office work can be performed remotely (telework/work from home).

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the Portfolio Management (PfM) function within the T&PS Project Controls- East organization. This position provides leadership of a team that is responsible for the implementation of the T&PS and GPC Program Management Office (PMO) Project Controls guidance documents and procedures in support of the GPC Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Projects. The Project Controls Portfolio Management supervisor is responsible for leading the team to ensure consistent program and portfolio level analysis and reporting on Estimating, Cost, Schedule, Risk, Change Management, and Earned Value Management. This position will also support data requests for regulatory filings and inquiries.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • College diploma or university degree in an engineering, technical, or business field or minimum 7 years equivalent experience preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years working directly in project controls/project management/construction management required

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders and customers is required

  • Experience supervising a team, setting priorities, managing resources, and putting strategic objectives into place highly preferred.

  • Experience with EPC projects (engineering, procurement, construction, and startup) required.

  • Previous experience with ash pond closure projects desired.

  • Experience with project controls methodologies and program/portfolio level analysis and reporting required

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of project costing, estimating, scheduling, change and risk management techniques, methods, and procedures

  • Knowledge of construction and engineering productivity/earned value processes

  • Knowledge of project delivery / front end planning process

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Cost Management:

  • Ensures consistent implementation and adherence to the GPC PMO cost management guidelines

  • Supervises cost reviews and analysis for the program and portfolio; Ensure accuracy of data and reporting to our customers and stakeholders

  • Oversight of the estimating and quantity trending and analysis, including Earned Value Management

  • Ensures alignment of the cost and schedule baselines

Schedule Management:

  • Ensures consistent implementation and adherence to the GPC PMO schedule management guidelines

  • Ensures the portfolio schedule progress is communicated effectively to customers and stakeholders; drives the consistency with the portfolio key milestones and logic

  • Drives the adherence to the schedule health and quality guidelines across the portfolio

  • Ensures alignment of the cost and schedule baselines

Risk and Change Management:

  • Ensures consistent implementation and adherence to the GPC PMO risk and change management guidelines

  • Leads the team in the cost and schedule Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) process and implementation

  • Ensures Change Control Board guidelines and presentations are implemented and fully developed

  • Ensures the consistent implementation of the schedule and cost baseline process

Other:

  • Thoroughly understands and oversees the consistent implementation of the GPC CCR Guidance documents and procedures.

  • Support timely data requests responses for regulatory filings and inquiries

  • Develops guidance document training and ensure guidelines and procedures are reviewed accordingly

Customer Relations:

  • Proactively investigates shortcomings and unserved needs and prepares recommendations and business cases as appropriate. Assesses effectiveness of improvement initiatives post-implementation and plans corrective actions as appropriate. Holds team accountable for delivering promised service levels and assists in preparing plans to achieve service levels.

  • Exhibits ability to work well with multiple stakeholders and customers both internal and external to T&PS.

Performance Management:

  • Supervises and manages daily activities for the Project Controls Portfolio Management team. Achieves superior business results across a diverse workgroup. Builds an inclusive environment that recognizes the benefits of a diverse staff. Motivates team to exhibit Our Values in all areas by personal example. Identifies skill gaps and works with agency partners to development of training to fill identified gaps. Communicates strategic plans to ensure understanding and shared vision.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regular visits within the sites in Georgia is required.

  • Travel will be minimum 25%.
