Job Description

Technical Writer Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical publications production duties: composition, illustration, and technical writing and editing.

  • Develop clear written materials to support product development activities.

  • Work cross-functionally with SMEs to collect product information and specifications.

  • Create, develop, update and publish highly accurate and complete product and service documents (e.g., Mainframe Manuals, Chamber Manuals, Procedures and BKMs).

  • Collect and organize technical information and product images, and coordinates layout for publication.

  • Develop and author technical documents while adhering to publication processes and style guides. Work with Applied Material's Manager to determine scope, deliverables, and schedule of documentation projects.

  • Write, structure and publish technical contents using DITA XML.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional organization and multitask on multiple projects.

  • Must be a quick learner, self-starter, with strong attention to details and can work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

Functional Knowledge:

  • Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in technical publishing software:

  • DITA XML: Oxygen Editor

  • Content Management System (CMS): SDL Tridion Docs, SharePoint, Teams

  • Graphical: Snagit, Photoshop

  • Adobe Suite: Acrobat Pro DC, FrameMaker

  • MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

Required Education and/or Certifications:

  • Graduate with Engineering Degree or bachelor's degree (Science preferred)

Years of Experience:

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience

U.S. Salary Range:

$76,000.00 - $104,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
