WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Project Controls Consultant with the potential to work out of our Washington D.C. office Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Work under the direction of the Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and evaluation of project financial reporting.
Assist Business Line Leaders, Local Business Leaders and Senior Project Managers in the Transit and Rail group on complex, multi-faceted projects by assisting on projects with deliverables, schedule(s) and budget management in partnership with our Project Accounting team.
Attend a variety of project meetings with project stakeholders to track and solve cost management issues.
Assist with financial reports for individual project subtasks, and provide roll-up reports that summarize the subtasks.
Assist with overall project reporting, tracking and change management processes to ensure changes are processed in an accurate and timely manner.
Participate in development of project estimates, budgets, forecasts, estimates to complete, and cost trends.
Monitor project health indicators for projects and suggest actions as needed.
Assist in preparing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for new work and change orders.
Assist in forecasting including updating schedules, costs to complete, spending plans, funding and labor forecasts, staff workloads, and risk registers to inform decision makers via accurate and reliable reporting.
Responsible for technical/project assistance, document control (electronic and hard copy), records management processes (filing, archiving), which includes assistance with project-specific reports, data management, uploading of documents to project websites, project file structure assistance, and construction administration.
Additional project assistance responsibilities may include tracking of task orders and project contracts, maintain project plans as well as project procedures manuals, workflows, QA review of reports/correspondences, and other field work coordination.
Analyze and provide executive summary reports from large data sets.
Exercises responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and
Other duties as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Economics/Finance or related field is required.
0-1 years of combined field and office cost control experience involving large-scale projects.
Ability to work in a matrix-type environment and must be a self-starter.
Proficiency in cost control/cost management methods.
Ability to interface with different technical staff within the project team and participate in meetings to resolve issues.
Expert ability with Microsoft Office Suite primarily Excel. Knowledge of Primavera P6 and SharePoint are a major plus.
Excellent communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal skills to deal with a high-pressure environment.
Self-starter capable of leading tasks with little direction or supervision.
Must possess a high level of professionalism and positive attitude when interacting with colleagues, clients, guests and other employees in the office.
Must have initiative with ability to anticipate needs and complete important tasks without needing to be asked.
Must be able to prioritize assignments with no supervision along with time management, resourcefulness, fine attention to detail and follow-through.
Must be a strong team player.
