Job Description:
The Director of e3 and Quality for ISR is responsible for Continuous Improvement and Quality performance across sector and will develop and deploy strategic plans for function(s) of responsibility. Through primarily matrixed leadership, this role will hold site teams accountable to meeting site, sector, and corporate targets while meeting customer, regulatory, and agency requirements. The ISR Director of e3 and Quality reports directly to the ISR VP of Operations and is matrixed to the IMS Segment Senior Director of Quality and the IMS Segment Senior Director of e3. Business scope includes Waco, Greenville, Tulsa, Rockwall, and Nashville operations as well as other remote locations not listed.
Essential Functions:
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead, support, and develop a team of Quality and Continuous Improvement professionals across all sites of ISR Sector.
Develop and execute annual Strategic Goal Deployment (SGD)/ Strategic Goal Alignment (SGA) plans for organization(s) of responsibility. Coordinate actions in support of strategic priorities, manage SGD/SGA for sector, and status regularly.
Set targets for and develop and execute plans to achieve/exceed KPI's critical to success of organization. KPI's for functions of responsibility include and are not limited to:
Quality: COPQ, DPTH, Escape/CAR's and DPPM.
e3 (Continuous Improvement): e3 OI Savings, Gemba Maturity, 5S+1 Scoring, and training certifications.
Represent sector function/organization of responsibility and engage with senior leadership, segment, corporate, and customer at regular business reviews. Provide key inputs to business systems employed to monitor business performance (i.e. Monthly Operating reviews, Corporate Deep Dives, Monthly/Quarterly board inputs, etc.) and develop site/ sector return to green plans when warranted.
Serve as functional representative on Sector CAB for review/approval of 8D's.
Serve as representative on sector Policy Review Board. Draft, review, and approve policies and procedures for function and organization of responsibility.
Assure systems of record are updated/maintained per corporate policy/ leadership direction. Systems include: e3PPM, SPM, and Athena.
Serve as liaison to segment and corporate functional leaders for critical events/updates that impact business results.
Maintain sector SharePoint for function(s) and represent, communicate and advocate for function and business through other engagement activities, sector wide communications, recruiting of talent, and promotional events.
Other tasks as directed by leadership in support of business.
Quality Specific:
Ensure sites are compliant to industry, regulatory, and statutory standards including, but not limited to ISO, DOD, FAA, federal, state, and local regulations, etc.
Assure sites have an approved Quality Management System (QMS), are compliant to QMS, and maintain audit readiness.
Direct activities and assure compliance of Corrective Action Board (CAB), Quality Monthly Reviews, and Zero Defect Planning (ZDP) to support culture of Quality First and a Zero Defect/Escape. Monitor sites/ sector for systemic/repetitive failures/events and drive for methodical Root Cause Corrective Actions in business.
Promote Quality Site level reviews at all operating sites. Develop and maintain standards for reviews and participate periodically as a member of each site's review.
Promote training, facilitate kaizen events, coordinate Problem Solving workshops, and execute cross site/cross functional improvement projects in support of Quality initatives across business.
Support key aspects of new product development as required and promote APQP and PPAP Philosophies in business and ensure FAI is incorporated in production phase.
Continuous Improvement Specific:
Partner with sites, programs, and functions to identify and capture process improvement opportunities across sector. Promote strategic alignment of improvements and aid leaders in prioritizing to meet needs of the business.
Track, forecast and report (in partnership with Finance) cost savings from the e3 project portfolio throughout the Sector.
Assure development of continuous improvement roadmaps at both the sector and site levels. Through monthly roadmap reviews with site leaders, assure execution of roadmaps at sites to meet e3 performance objectives.
Serve as Operational Excellence focal for sector. Promote the business system across sector and sites and strategically drive it in to the operations business. Train operations leaders, e3 leaders and practitioners on system and assure business leaders across sector are educated on OpEx.
Develop and deploy training, facilitate kaizen events / workshops and execute cross site/cross functional improvement projects in support of sector needs.
Train and coach business leaders, lean expert/green belt candidates, e3 site leaders and e3 practitioners in RCCA, Lean, and 6Sigma methodologies to L3Harris standards.
Manage Lean expert and green belt program for sector. Solicit, approve, and coach candidates to successful completion and certification of program of choice.
Manage facilitation/coordination of monthly Operations and Strategic Goal Deployment reviews and coordinate across all sites.
Promote and coach e3 steering committees across all sites. Participate periodically as a member of each site's Continuous Improvement team driving results throughout the site and sector.
Serve as Sector Point of Contact for special focus events (i.e. 5S+1 Day and e3/Quality Week). Assure sites are organized and prepared to support and assure awareness of leadership for positive engagement.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related operations experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related operations experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related operatons experience.
10+ years experience leading manufacturing/production operations within the aerospace and defense industry.
5+ years experience managing a DOD compliant Earned Value Management budget system.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience leading production operations in a DOD energetic facility.
Experience using LEAN principles leading production operations.
Thorough understanding and demonstrated use of ERP systems.
