WSP is currently initiating a search for an Aviation Project Manager to work out of our Nashville, TN Project office (JNX).
As part of the Capital Improvement Program execution, WSP is seeking an Aviation Project Manager to manage projects within the Engineering Department at our General Aviation Airport John W Tune. The Aviation Project Manager is responsible for project oversight on all assigned projects including facilitating and monitoring contracts, reviewing and approving requests for proposals (RFPs) and change orders/amendments, reviewing schedules, providing direction in accordance with the contract documents, coordinating work between contractors and other stakeholders, and monitoring Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) and Small, Minority and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (SMWBE) activities on worksites. Types of work will be a wide breadth of projects that may include architectural and civil projects such as utilities, roadways, taxiway, apron, terminal reconstruction, hangar construction, office space build outs, and new building construction.
A successful candidate will need to understand and manage design and construction within an active airport environment. A viable candidate would be experienced in Garage/roadway project management and/or terminal project management.
Your Impact
Manages the design and construction process, including participating in design/contractor selection, ensuring deliverables have been received, and reviewing and responding to change requests and claims.
Oversees Airfield design/construction, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil construction activities, including Airfield construction, terminal construction, hangar construction, office space build out, and new building construction.
Reviews and negotiates design/contractor proposals, change orders, and other required cost data.
Coordinates with QA department to ensure compliance with construction documents, standards, codes, and guidelines.
Performs constructability reviews of plans and specifications at required stages of design for construction and tenant improvement projects.
Monitors invoices for correct information including dates and rates.
Oversees projects undertaken by airport tenants.
Updates project database throughout project and project closeout.
Assists the Design department in preparation of documents, and reviews plans and specifications during stages of design for constructability.
Reviews schedules for logic and completeness.
Works with the general contractors on preparation of the schedule of values for the project.
Allocates construction coordinator staff to provide coverage on all projects.
Confers with supervisory personnel, contractors, design consultants, and other professionals to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Coordinates construction activities among property owners, state officials, departments, contractors, and design team to ensure projects are planned in logical steps and time is budgeted to meet deadlines.
Identifies environmental hazards and addresses them in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Manages the Airport Improvement Request (AIR) program, a process for tenants on airport property to make modifications or changes to space rentals.
Monitors DBEs' and SMWBEs' activities on worksites.
Reviews and approves contractor pay requests in accordance with contract documents.
Reviews plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings for work being performed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of airport operations and construction of aviation facilities are required.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, project management, and/or construction management, Architecture or equivalent experience.
At least 7+ years of experience in aviation or civil related experience
Able to review contract documentation at all stages of the project
The ability to understanding AutoCAD/ construction drawings and specifications
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with FAA advisory circulars and procedures
Strong airside and landside experience on large and medium hub U.S. commercial airports
Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
Valid driver's license, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Hire is contingent upon client approval, being able to obtain an airport badge, and the successful completion of a background check which will be initiated upon receipt of your signed offer letter. Also, as a condition of employment, it is required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent residency in the U.S., or current authorization to work in the U.S. within (3) days of your start date.
