Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist III to work out of the AECOM office located in Charleston or Greenville, SC or Raleigh, NC. This position will assist the ecological services department with the evaluation and documentation of natural resources. These evaluations include the identification and assessment of vegetative assemblages and wildlife and plant species, including the establishment of the extent of wetland jurisdiction regulated by local, state, and/or federal agencies. The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of wetland functional assessment, environmental permitting, protected species survey requirements, and strong technical writing capabilities.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education +4 years of experience in natural resources.
Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship required.
Valid Driver's License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
4 years of experience identifying fauna and flora indigenous to the southeastern United States and regulations protecting wetlands and protected species in addition to a clear working knowledge of GIS.
Master's Degree.
NEPA Experience.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $57,000.00 - $99,000.00.
