Overview
FTI is looking for a self-directed and motivated individual to join our team as a Scrum Master, in support of its Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme Division (PHD) customer. The candidate will work with a geographically dispersed, cross functional team (i.e., Government and Contractor Project Managers, Logisticians, Engineers, and Program Analysts) on supporting the Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (ePLM) Integrated Decision Environment (IDE) program. The primary work location is Chesapeake, VA, but work from home is acceptable.
This position requires a DoD Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly sprint planning and daily scrum
Estimate story points for user stories and tasks
Assign tasking to engineers
Manage Jira Scrum board(s) and dashboards
Enforce Definition of Done
Resolve roadblocks reported by team
Monitor sprint execution and elevate issues to leadership as necessary
Support semi-monthly backlog refinement meetings with NSWC PHD Lead/Product Owner and sponsors
Deliver and facilitate effective and efficient Agile ceremonies including weekly stand-ups, biweekly sprint reviews, sprint planning and sprint retrospectives.
Work with NSWC PHD Lead to plan releases, organize, refine and maintain product and sprint backlogs, and allocate user stories and related tasking to sprints based on sponsor priorities
Coach and enact continuous improvement within the team to increase the productivity of the team and quality of deliverables.
Ensure appropriate consistency and coordination between delivery teams; help the team converge on consistent capacity and performance metrics.
Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition.
Develop and track Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics and use them to achieve committed goals; analyze the data to identify trends and areas for improvement that can assist all stakeholders in achieving delivery and business goals.
Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress to provide transparency across the client company.
Ensure proper documentation using Agile artifacts (product vision statement, product backlog, product roadmap, release progress, sprint backlog, etc.).
Education/Qualifications
At least five years of experience as an Agile Scrum Master, preferably in a government/contractor setting
Ability to work with cross functional team (i.e. project manager, logisticians, engineers, program analysts)
Ability to work independently with a geographically dispersed team
Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills.
At least three years of experience utilizing software used for Agile project management such as JIRA, Trello, Redmine, etc.
Strong skills in MS Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint
Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is a plus
