Purpose of Job
Our Credit Risk Analytics team supports, enables, and solutions the data and analytics needs of the Chief Credit Office -Reserves. This outstanding opportunity will enable the Credit Risk professional to collaborate with others across business divisions, risk management, and the USAA Enterprise in the translation of business needs into credit risk requirements and the fulfillment thereof.
The credit risk analytics manager senior will:
- Produce reserve estimation under a well-controlled and detailed process, to stand up to a level of internal and external review.
- Provide support to the Chief Credit Office -Reserves team through an independent and robust Data Analytics program including:
o Data acquisition
o Data preparation
o Data wrangling
- Analyze reserve model results and ensure compliance with model governance standards, including model validation support
- Leverage reporting mechanism to understand areas of concern/focus in the quarterly estimation process, research driving forces, and communicate to other teams within the company
- Analyze drivers, model monitoring, effective communication, and developing materials for quarterly reviews conducted with senior management.
- Collaborate with other analyst on the team to understand their data needs, provide solutions, and prepare presentation materials for Working Group, Committees and the Board
Manages quantitative credit/behavioral/financial analytics or predictive modeling to assess risks and opportunities and provides recommendations for Bank consumer portfolios. Provides effective challenge for risk and strategy proposals.

Applies industry knowledge to develop advanced and nuanced quantitative analysis applying extensive internal and external data sources to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous and complicated problems.
Challenges risk proposals in designated risk area of credit, market, operations, product, or strategic,,) through detailed research and vetting, demonstrating banking product, regulatory and industry knowledge, and critical thinking skills to ensure strong portfolio performance outcomes.
Designs, builds, and may assist in maintaining effective risk management frameworks that enable identification, measurement, and mitigation of risk in a complex environment.
Develops and coordinates comprehensive risk reporting in support of management and committee oversight of existing and emerging risks.
Crafts complex financial risk sensitivity analysis.
Provides thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members regarding analytics and risk management.
May complete or implement credit and/or financial modeling infrastructure.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
Six years of proven experience in an analytical field or work focused on leading risk management execution, assessments or advanced analytics OR four years of demonstrated ability in an analytical field or focused on risk management execution, analytics or risk assessments with an advanced degree in a quantitative, scientific, engineering, business or technical field OR an equivalent level of proven proficiencies in industry leading risk management execution, advanced analytics, and risk assessments.
2 years prior analytical experience in a financial services or highly regulated environment.
Experience delivering cross functional action plans by communicating complex analytical insights and compelling risk mitigating solutions.
Experience creating and maintaining analytical reporting.
Experience applying critical thinking skills to support successful performance outcomes.
Demonstrated awareness of relevant laws, rules and regulations, such as guidance and requirements associated with OCC Heightened Standards
Solid understanding of current analytical coding languages such as Python, SAS, or SQL.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Data analytics or science experience using SQL, SAS, and visualization tools (Tableau) preferred
Automation solutions through technology preferred, but not required
Knowledge of ALLL/CECL reserve processes, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, and helping to advance the overall process is preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to present complex and critical issues to management
Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $88,200.00 - $158,900.00 *(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
