Overview
The AI/ML Center of Excellence (AI/ML COE), within the Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) group, leads the development of enterprise-wide data science solutions and capabilities aimed, primarily, at driving an in-depth understanding of our members' behaviors, trends, and needs. The Summer Associate will help support the team's data science efforts by working with business units and/or other stakeholders around the credit union to understand their analytical challenges and develop data science and machine-learning solutions to meet those challenges.
Representative Projects:
Build a machine-learning propensity model that predicts the likelihood that an NFCU member will use Zelle (payment system) in the near future
Perform complex analytical work on large data sets to better understand issues around member engagement and member behavior
Support feature engineering work by examining newly available data sources and determining - and then coding up - those deemed to be most useful/impactful for future machine-learning efforts
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify, applicants must be currently pursuing degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or after.
Responsibilities
Support the AI/ML COE Team's data science and machine-learning efforts
Retrieve, analyze, and model data within our Azure Databricks environment
Collaborate with business units and/or other stakeholders around the credit union to understand analytical challenges and potential data science solutions
Effectively communicate analytical results and findings to senior management
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or other related degree
Experience with Python (Pyspark)
Experience with SQL
Experience with or knowledge of cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure, Databricks)
Experience with data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau)
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Experience working with ambiguity (ie, data/analytical efforts where there is no clear solution)
Curious and energetic nature
