This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for Transportation Management Center (TMC) System Operator I for our client's Hauppauge, NY office.
The TMC System Operator I shall have a detailed familiarity with Long Island's roadways, understand communications protocols and be knowledgeable on the location and purpose of all ITS elements. Candidates must be capable of independently following procedures and direction with minimal oversight and supervision.
Your Impact
Operate the TMC's advanced traffic management system (ATMS);
Monitor radios/police scanners, CCTV displays, and system map for incidents;
Monitor computerized traffic signal and ramp metering activities;
Dispatch traffic signals malfunctions and highway maintenance calls to appropriate personnel or jurisdictions;
Perform record keeping tasks, keyboard entries and generate daily reports;
Monitor and update all variable message signs including dial-up portable signs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required
Must possess a valid Driver's License
Must be willing to work all shifts including weekends, overnights and holidays
Proficient with various computer/software systems - including MS Office, GIS and web-based information systems
Must have an aptitude for providing exceptional customer service
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Applicants must be able to pass a background/criminal history check
Preferred Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of local roadways
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written
Strong attention to detail
Ability to professionally interact with co-workers and client staff
Ability to perform with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task and remain calm during high pressure situations
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $33,200 - $54,780
