GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for independently providing appropriate exercise prescriptions and training programs/services for individuals and/or community groups under the Healthy You for Life Program or other programs developed by CHKDHS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts initial assessment of client cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength and endurance, physical capabilities and impairments in order to determine and provide an appropriate exercise plan.
Documents activities for tracking purposes and in support of billing requirements. Documentation includes subject history, pain assessment, fitness assessment, gait deviations and the overall assessment.
Assures continued competency of professional performance, knowledge and skill, by continued professional development and maintaining current knowledge related to all aspects of the practice.
Provides training to group and personal training to clients, following the appropriate exercise plan.
Maintains required records and files regarding clients or groups' exercise plans and classes.
Develops and presents community education on fitness and wellness-related topics. Communities may include but are not limited to schools, professional conferences, the general public, etc.
Participates in marketing the program to the community to maximize program participation.
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
ACSM certification is required, or must be obtained within 120 days of hire.
Youth Fitness Specialist certification through the IYCA is preferred.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field.
Knowledge of pediatric strength training.
New graduates will be considered, but several years of experience is preferred, in the administration of a variety of assessment tools, exercise plans and equipment, with previous experience independently providing exercise instruction.
CPR training is required/ or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
Must have reliable transportation for travel to off-site locations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment. Moderate adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.
