Instrument & Controls Technician
Southern Power Plant Cleveland
Plant Cleveland, a power generation facility located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, is currently seeking a candidate for the position of Instrument & Controls Technician. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining control systems and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic) for the operation and maintenance of Siemens F class simple cycle dual fuel combustion turbine facility. This person will need to possess mechanical, electrical, operational and instrumentation skills with a strong concentration in at least one of these fields. Additional skills include the ability to troubleshoot plant control and electrical systems and maintain plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order system (Maximo). This multi-craft role is involved in daily decision making and system ownership for Plant Cleveland and the Southern Power fleet.
Successful candidate must live near Kings Mtn NC or be willing to relocate.
Job Experience
Minimum of five years' experience in electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and controls for power plants preferred.
Experience with Siemens T3000 control systems, CEMS, PLC's, and operation of Siemens F class gas turbines is desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
Detailed knowledge of plant control and data acquisition systems desired.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trends for optimizing plant performance.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and display the ability to work independently as an effective team member.
Working knowledge of F Class combustion turbine operations and maintenance is a plus.
Other Attributes
Must be able to handle complex, high-pressure situations and be adaptable to a changing work environment sometimes working extended days without notice.
Must be able to support a 24/7 schedule, including, weekends, holidays and night shift work when necessary.
Basic computer skills and work management software preferred.
Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to organize work with minimal supervision.
Education
2-Year College/Technical Degree or similar Navy Nuclear training completed is required
Minimum of five years' experience in an industrial environment desired.
