Position Description
Serco is seeking a creative Communications Specialist to provide routine strategic counsel and execute communication activities for members of the United States Navy located throughout a 70,000 square-mile region. Bring your Communications Specialist expertise and join the team in Garden City, NY!
The Communications Specialist will be the principle advisor to the Commanding Officer on issues related to public affairs, media, and Speakers Bureau press related to community events. You will ensure efficient and effective planning and execution of public affairs activities, manage the company's social media presence and you will be responsible for the continued work and training of 200+ personnel. In addition, you will maintain key relationships with community members, media and businesses and organize, coordinate, document and disseminate organizational events within the organizations area of responsibility.
In this role, you will:
Coordinate special Navy enlistment ceremonies with the New York MLB, NBA and NFL sports teams
Assist in the development of a Community Outreach Program which was used as a template for NTAGs across the nation
Assist in the organization, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Navy Swarm initiative inside local schools in support of Navy careers through occupational/vocational education
Coordinate with Navy Recruiting Command Leadership for input and assistance to produce NRC oral and written products
Assist in writing and/or reviewing articles for release in Navy Recruiter magazine and other internal and external publications
Aid in coordinating the annual Navy Recruiting District PAO Conference
Aid in coordinating the annual Recruiter of the Year activities
Coordinate requests for information from media representatives within NRC and provides support to (NRD) media activities
Develop technical documents and briefing materials for recruiting purposes; in accordance with government standards, all documents produced shall be understandable, legible, and timely
Receive, disseminate, and maintain copies of Public Affairs Guidance received from higher authority
Provide annual budget input for conferences, training, stations visits, and equipment
Submit weekly reports to CNRC PAO
Document and respond to public/media queries and maintains a historical database of queries
Conduct check-in, check-out procedures and indoctrination for incoming and outgoing
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Two (2) to Four (4) years of experience related to Job Description Responsibilities
High proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office 2010 suite of software applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft SharePoint Workspace
Experience withMass Communications, Social Media, Marketing and Photo Journalism
