What We're Looking For
Responsible for the production and modification of engineering plans, design calculations, technical reports, and specifications for assigned projects. This position consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies drafting techniques, procedures and design criteria for complex and cross-discipline projects. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to address design related issues or concerns, working closely with the project manager through creative problem solving and by completing tasks to meet the project schedule. Develops conceptual and detailed plans to support the project completion using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for the organization of all design/production related files.
Responsible for verifying the accuracy of drawings, compatibility of work across disciplines and for checking detail and quantity calculations.
Assists the engineer in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches.
Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed. Prepares electronic files for use in meetings and facilitates their display.
Calculates quantities and performs engineering related computations.
Provides training and mentoring of less experienced technicians.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Associate of Science or Technical School
6 years related experience
In lieu of education, 8 years related experience
Proficient in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering sub-type
What We Prefer:
Experience in Rail Systems engineering
Bachelor's degree in Drafting technology or related discipline
