PowerSecure is seeking a Submittal Technical Writer (TW I) to join the Technical Writing Department in our Durham, NC location. The primary responsibility will be composing and compiling cut sheets, drawings, and specifications for project Submittals. Additional responsibilities will include creating, editing, and formatting necessary documents to support PowerSecure's line of products. The candidate must be thoroughly comfortable working with Design Engineers and Project Managers under a tight deadline to gather all necessary information and drawings for Submittals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree; Engineering, English, other applicable studies with technical focus.

  • Associate degree in Engineering will also be considered.

  • 2+ years' experience editing, reading, and interpreting engineering documents is preferred.

  • 2+ years' experience in construction, manufacturing, and power systems is preferred.

  • Knowledge and use of Adobe products preferred, specifically Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.

  • Ability to interpret in-house and customer specifications, mechanical and electrical engineering documents, and industry safety standards.

  • Very strong working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and ability to edit and format documents, both individually and with peers. Independently research, comprehend, and retain a multitude of industry specifications and procedures to produce accurate documents.

  • Comprehend overall scope of projects as well as break down, gather, and organize relevant information.

  • Collect information from Project Managers (and other sources) to produce an easy-to follow submittal package for internal and external company use.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills across multiple mediums such as in-person, email, and Microsoft Teams calls and messages.

  • Ability to observe and follow accepted formatting and style guides.

Essential Functions:

  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts and content providers to ensure common understanding of policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with Design Engineers and Project Managers to obtain materials and project specifications ensuring the most up-to-date accurate information is published.

  • Understand the concept of a Microgrid and how each component works within the system.

  • Monitor projects within the system as well as anticipate and understand customer needs.

  • Multitask and prioritize Submittals throughout various stages of development including. templates and revisions.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and assist in developing a broad range of documents.

  • Maintain data sheet repository and ensure documents remain up-to-date.

  • Up to 10% of travel.
