This Senior level position will support the Government on-site Assistant Program Manager focused on shipboard weapons and aviation technical issues at the shipyard in San Diego, CA. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain an DoD Secret level clearance pre-employment.
The Serco on-site Team provides technical support to the T-AO Class hulls being constructed at National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) Shipyard located in San Diego, CA.
You will be part of Serco's on-site Team (four members) located at NASSCO's facility supporting the T-AO Fleet Oiler Shipbuilding Program. The Serco on-site Team plays a significant role is assisting the Government ensuring NASSCO meets all contractual technical requirements.
In this role, you will:
Focused on shipboard weapons and aviation technical issues.
May include other technical assignments as needed.
Review NASSCO engineering submittals, drawing reviews, specification changes, trade off studies, development/review of test procedures, and review/confirm regulatory body requirements compliance.
Coordinate efforts with the PMS 325 Lead for Weapons and Aviation.
Attend meetings at NASSCO offices associated with the T-AO Program.
Participate in shipboard inspections related to T-AO Aviation and Weapons requirements.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Must be able to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance pre-employment.
10-15 years of experience in marine engineering and Navy shipbuilding programs, specifically with Military Sealift Command Auxiliary Ships.
Experience with Navy shipboard weapons handling and stowage systems and inspection certification requirements.
Understanding of NAVSEA and NAVAIR requirements including Military Specifications (MIL SPECS), Test Procedures, and Maintenance Procedures.
Desired Requirements:
Experienced with Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Engineering and Quality Assurance Departments.
Understanding of U.S. and Foreign regulatory body requirements (ABS, USCG, IMO, SOLAS) and be able to apply to shipbuilding.
Familiarity with NAVAIR Aviation certification requirements and be able to inspect to verify compliance.
Familiarity with Navy firefighting sprinkling system design, testing, and inspection certification requirement.
US Naval Officer experience.
Master's Degree in Engineering.
