The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) in Hodges, SC has an opening for a Furnace Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for charge make-up and delivery of iron. You will also set, adjust, and operate controls of one or more induction or arc furnaces to melt metal for casting purposes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Operates control station to monitor and control melting station
Analyzes control signals
Controls melting operations
Detects deviations and initiates corrective action
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in iron pouring, ladle repair, furnace charging and furnace operation.
Must understand basic gray/ductile iron charge make-up to produce iron that meets required specifications.
Top candidates will also have:
Previous machine shop, foundry, or manufacturing experience
Math skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Problem solving and decision-making
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations):
Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds
Ability to stand throughout an 8-hour shift
Ability to operate heavy machinery and manufacturing equipment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, flashes, burns, eyestrain and sparks from welder and grinder. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat while welding in hot weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Additional Information:
This position will be on 2nd shift.
2nd shift hours are Monday- Friday 2pm-10:30pm.
This position is located in Hodges, SC.
This position will close on 8/24/2022 at 11:59pm.
