Job Description:
To manage the outbound logistics network for prime product machines, engines, and work tools from factory to dealer including management of the Trade Lane Management, Last Mile, and Equipment Processing Center programs.
Job Duties:
The GM, Transportation is a senior level role managing the Prime Product Transportation business from factory to dealer. The role is responsible for meeting product group, dealer, and plant needs for distribution of machines, engines, and work tools while providing leadership focused on a positive work culture.
Key activities include but are not limited to: complete management of the prime product outbound transportation network, provide leadership and vision for overall strategy and linkage to product group OPACC goals, accountable for managing agreed upon KPI's to ensure network cost & velocity effectiveness, establish work plan and priorities for team members and service providers, collaborate with product groups and global peers on freight cost and velocity performance, and communicate overall program effectiveness.
Team Responsibilities:
. Reporting to this position are 6 global direct reports who each manage a portion of the outbound prime product transportation network
. Establish team goals, make linkage to overall transport strategy, make linkage to product group OPACC goals, and communicate progress
. Develop and mentor team members to build deep expertise and recruit talent
. Responsible for performance management evaluations and creating an accountable work culture
Primary Operational Responsibilities
. Ensure operational effectiveness for network performance
. Responsible to meet strategic goals to reduce in-transit inventory and drive velocity defects out of the transportation network; sponsor projects to meet these goals where appropriate
. Work with logistics procurement and ocean transport suppliers to ensure ocean vessel capacity meets factory production needs
. Interface with global dealers on critical shipments and work with peers to manage end to end network results
Continuous Improvement Responsibilities
. Build consensus among stakeholders through product groups, plants, and dealers to drive improvement and additional OPACC opportunities
. Communicate program success and strategy to stakeholders
. Define and drive system requirements to match physical flow to financial and data flow to enable analytics and dashboard performance management
Financial Management Responsibilities
. Responsible for budget creation and to build consensus with product groups on funding strategic initiatives
. Management of the operation within the agreed upon budget and financial forecast through rolling business management process
Requirements:
. 15 of more years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
. Demonstrated performance driving results
. Past supervisory experience
. Strong ability to collaborate across multiple groups and executive level communication
. Excellent interpersonal skills required to manage sensitive issues
. Demonstrated experience of problem solving in a structured way using Lean concepts
. Understands the importance of trade compliance on transportation flows
. Experience using data analytics tools like Tableau or Power BI
. Bachelor's degree preferably in supply chain, business administration, or transportation related field or equivalent experience
Desired Requirements:
. Past experience in managing complex, global programs
. Past experience working with product groups or dealers
. Experience using industry leading transport management systems such as Blue Yonder
. Master's degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration
Global travel 25% (international and domestic)
