Job Description
Our general goal is to leverage industry expertise and solution to create the Web Framework Layer content, instead of developing our own. The candidate needs to be able to collect needs for all existing and future users within CAT and define overall feature requirements. The candidate will then need to research industry solutions and find the right supplier. Once the solution is identified, the candidate will be accountable to integrate it with the rest of A7 software content and complete the final system validation.
Job Duties
This is a position for software Architect, to develop -Web Framework Core Layer- within the A7 software architecture, used in upcoming Domain Controller ECM. Web Framework Core layer is a critical software library that includes the following core contents, subject to change.
Core/ Services:
CEF/CEF Wrapper - common web browser for all applications
Web Server - common web server for all applications
Sound Manager - implement the defined Tone Strategy and improve over the current generation with regards to fading in/out of tones and mixing of multiple tones, also need to define the integration of multiple applications
App Store - Caterpillar curated app store for display/telematics applications on domain controller
Core display application:
Display Launcher (Multiple Display Management) - content launching management, application placement, display content re-configuration, saving of content preferences per user.
Basic Qualifications
BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS
7-10 years of development experience using C++ (with emphasis on C++11/14) programming languages
7-10 years of embedded software experience
7-10 Development experience using Object Oriented Design
7+ Experience working in a fast-paced, large and global Agile team environment
Experience as software architect or team lead for a large cross functional development team
Experience working in Ubuntu

Excellent communication skills and Strong customer focus
Good knowledge on CAT Telematics software architecture & Code Base
Good knowledge on CAT display software architecture & Code Base
Basic Understanding of CAT A7 Domain Controller architecture strategy
Expertise working with CAT internal clients to build consensus on feature requirement
Experience and willingness to evaluate external supplier solutions
Experience and willingness to create & execute SOW agreement with external suppliers to ensure Time/Cost/Quality
Expertise to work with other content owners & SMEs to complete system integration & validation

The location for this position is Mossville, IL
