SPM Oil & Gas, A Caterpillar Company, is currently looking for a Buyer in Fort Worth, Texas. As a Buyer you are responsible for managing purchase orders and requests.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.

  • Predominantly purchasing A class items along with B and C class items.

  • Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.

  • Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.

  • Generates, communicates, and manages price quotes to suppliers

  • Writes or types purchase order and sends copy to supplier and department originating request.

  • Manages purchase orders on a daily basis adjusting delivery times and quantities as needed.

  • Computes total cost of items purchased.

  • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.

  • Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers or mail order firms.

  • Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment.

  • Manages and finds resolution to non-conforming product delivered by suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree with two (2) plus years' related experience, or high school diploma or GED with four (4) years' related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to negotiate price and delivery with suppliers using internal knowledge and external market factors.

  • An advanced understanding of Material Requirements Planning principles.

  • Proficient knowledge of Manufacturing software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Top candidates will also have:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and must be able to walk frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.

  • Protective Equipment must be worn in certain areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
