The DHA Director of Communications is seeking for a mid-level experienced Communications or Public Relations Specialist, with experience as a media coordinator for Defense Health organizations, to create and manage health affairs content for a diverse array of media/publications.You will partner with a creative team of skilled professionals within a larger multi-disciplined communications organization to identify communications requirements and create and edit content to support MHS strategic initiatives. Published content will be used across MHS communications outputs for planning, media, web, and outreach/external events .
The DHA Strategic Communications Directorate integrates the research, planning, execution, and evaluation of all Military Health System (MHS) public affairs and communications programs across multiple communications channels and disciplines to a wide variety of stakeholders and audiences at the national and global levels, including all military hospitals and clinical facilities, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, the Joint Staff, the Veterans Administration, and Congress.You will be part of a 40-person team that works closely with our DHA customer, Serco teammates and other partners to deliver effective communications content and analysis.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Produce media and press advisories, media assessments for reach and impact, and media event coordination.
Plan, develop, edit, participate in media engagement strategies.
Produce daily and weekly reports covering media activity that impacts your stakeholders and audiences.
Collaborate with the Communications Division team to inform focus area of articles, identify subject matter experts, and determine outreach to appropriate DHA staff offices or MHS component organizations.
Provide daily, weekly and ad-hoc executive products synthesizing external media coverage of health care and the military health system.
Provide developed content and coordinate activities to respond to media queries.
Candidates must be located in or around Washington, DC metro area. Remote is permitted.
Qualifications
In this role, you will have:
5 + years' experience and proficiency in strategic communications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in content development, writing and editing content for various mediums.
The ability to cooperate with other writers and editors to complete projects and give feedback on writing projects.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
Effective communication skills as well as excellent writing and editing skills.
The ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Must be US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
Addition desired skills and qualifications:
Public Health or health care administration experience or expertise.
Experience with DHA, VHA or DoD is a plus
Comfort working at client offices and participating in internal corporate quality assurance processes.
