WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Vice President/Transportation Director/Local Area Lead for our Orlando, FL Office. The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in the Florida Market as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice. The role also is a leader in leveraging cross collaboration with other WSP business lines to bring value to our clients.

Clients

  • Leads business development activities such as client engagement, opportunity identification, team formation, proposal preparation, presentation, and project execution.

  • Drives performance of the transportation business and strategically grows our market share to fulfill our goal that WSP become the preferred, trusted advisor to our clients.

  • Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Business Line Leaders.

  • Integrates as the -face of the company- locally and across the State of Florida, attending civic and industry events, conferences, and forums ranging from ACEC, FTBA, WTS, Chamber of Commerce, and many more.

  • Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets.

  • Utilizes our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices, and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery.

People & Culture

  • Works with the Business Line Leaders to attract the best industry talent by fostering a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking - crafting a more attractive place to work, grow and thrive.

  • Mentors Project Managers and Staff Engineers.

Operational Excellence

  • Leads civil engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.

  • Develops and informs proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics - and accountable for planning, development, and management of projects in compliance with all applicable City/State/Federal codes and regulations, and in accordance with all acceptable engineering practices.

  • Provide verbal and/or written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.

  • Develops local growth, forecast and business development strategy in collaboration with Business Line Leaders.

  • Collaborates with Business Line Leaders to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity and Guiding Principles.

Expertise

  • Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings.

  • Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.

  • Advances the strategic direction of the area in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.

  • Encourages, supports, and promotes the technical and professional development of WSP staff.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, civil and infrastructure design.

  • Florida Professional Engineer license.

  • Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and growth.

  • Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement.

  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes.

  • Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice.

  • Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the Florida Market.

  • Commitment to internal and external client service.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies..
