Overview
The Zero Trust Security Intern Engineer will assist the ZT Security Program in the mission to be an agent of change committed to leading and supporting the implementation developing the approach for of Navy Federal's FCU's adoption of Zero Trust framework. Intern will , working with stakeholders across the enterprise into building the roadmap and execution plans. Through an assessment benchmarking process of the current enterprise initiatives utilizing both a manual and automated process to capture the actual maturity level of the enterprise in reference to the Zero Trust framework.

Responsibilities
- Serves in a supporting role to all approved initiatives for the Zero Trust program, supports the effort to organize the execution of blueprint by influencing and building the appropriate coalitions across multiple departments and disciplines
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture as an advisor to define, design, and deliver the blueprint for a Zero Trust platform that encompasses NFCU's assets, applications, network, data, and identities
- Drive the development of the technology strategy and roadmap towards a Zero Trust paradigm including integration with Identity and Access Management (IAM), Data Security, Endpoint Security, Policy and Trust engines
- Advise on Zero Trust security design, configuration, and solutions
- Utilize threat modeling techniques to develop Zero Trust controls to be applied to architecture, data, network, and applications
- Champion Zero Trust principles across all pillars of delivery at NFCU including new technologies such as SASE, cloud technologies, enterprise identity
- Partner with IT organization to shift the access and authentication paradigm across NFCU to Zero Trust and reduce risk of insider threat
- Act within an advisory role on Authorization and Authentication systems, infrastructure, and implementation techniques in driving Zero Trust Architecture
- Assist in defining the strategy and roadmaps for ZT technology products, service standards, and governance routines
- Work with teams within NFCU supporting policies and standards and provide researched language for updates aligned to a Zero Trust solution
- Will be responsible and take ownership of the Architecture, Implementation, and Operations and Maintenance of the Automated Zero Trust Assessment tools.
Qualifications
- Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree (Junior or Senior) or graduate studies from an accredited college/university
- Must be currently enrolled in IT related classes, preferably Cybersecurity
- Comfortable and adaptable to working in a dynamic environment
- Desired skills in Microsoft Excel, Python scripting, KQL knowledge, Splunk query knowledge
- Desire to work in a technically challenging n IT environment, specifically in Information Security
- Excellent customer service skills and interaction
- Demonstrate problem solving, analytical and process development skills
- Must be a team player with a cooperative and energetic spirit with a willingness to learn and be flexible
- Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and staff
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Knowledge in basic networking and routing
- Knowledge Deep technology expertise in infrastructure including cloud and hybrid implementations, applications, and security
- Understanding of with leading security frameworks including Zero Trust
- Extraordinary organizational and cross-functional communication skills to collaborate on Zero Trust with existing identity and data implementations
- Knowledge of application concepts and development and secure authentication and data patterns
