Senior Engineer - Power Delivery Standards & Reliability (1 opening)
Reports to: Susan White
Work Location: Hybrid remote worker status; reports to 241 Ralph McGill, Atlanta, GA (GPC Corporate Headquarters), If you work remotely, you must be available to report to your normal work location upon request by management. If you work remotely, your schedule may change from time to time to accommodate special projects, customer needs or other aspects of your job.

JOB SUMMARY:
Sr. Engineer position is responsible for initiating and reviewing Southern Company Distribution Materials Specifications, Standards and Procedures; perform Best Practices reviews and provide engineering analysis, assistance, and training for Area personnel. Individual will serve on Southern Company and Industry committees and support Best Practices review for Distribution Work Estimates. Performs special projects and works on Southern Company initiatives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position responsible for initiating and reviewing GPC and SoCo Distribution Materials Specifications, Standards and Procedures and work with Supply Chain Management and Vendors to manage assigned materials
Performs Best Practices reviews and assists with DPRT processes
Provides engineering analysis, assistance, and training for Area personnel
Serves on Southern Company and Industry committees
Performs special projects and works on SoCo Distribution initiatives for cost savings, material standardization and design
Works with Planning, Area engineers, Distribution Automation and Reliability team to enhance distribution reliability and material performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement (The following education or license is required)
Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred
Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in Electrical or Mechanical only
Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Math or related Science with P.E.
Experience Requirements
Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code, OH & UD Distribution systems, policies and procedures
Understanding of customer service needs
Familiar with Section 0, Distribution Bulletins, SDOP
Must possess the ability to progress in job responsibilities and be able to become a Lead Product Engineer for Southern Company
Area Distribution engineering experience requested
Demonstrated use of selecting materials and specifications used for installation, maintenance and operation of distribution utility system
Two years (2) as a Distribution Engineer I or Engineering Associate I required
Two years or more experience in electric distribution, area operations, SERP or equivalent functional (Transmission, System Ops) experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communications skills; ability to convey information in a manner that is compelling and convincing; ability to interact with individuals at all levels inside and outside the company on issues including electric power operations and power quality issues
Ability to balance customer needs, Sales Goals and Power Delivery guidelines
Must possess strong Project Management skills and be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to track, update and communicate project status to stakeholders to ensure timely completion
Ability to handle difficult situations and resolve conflict, lead and get work done through others
Ability to identify all possible options and solutions for a specific situation, ensure consistency in application, and recommend the appropriate course of action
Ability to identify and assign tasks and resources required to reach objectives

Thorough understanding of Distribution Management Systems

Work hours must be flexible to accommodate multiple projects, customer requests, and inclement weather
Must be available to work SERP operations when needed.
Some overnight travel within the Southern Company footprint and occasional travel within North America
