Job Description:
Caterpillar's Earthmoving Division is hiring a Training Instructor for paving products. In this role, you will exercise your learning and development skills while traveling heavily (up to 75%), providing hands-on training to our dealers and customers on paving equipment.
Job Duties:
Travel to marketing organization training centers, dealerships, corporate training centers & customer locations to teach specific courses and machine commissioning
Provide technical expertise and advice on multiple product lines to internal customers, business units, marketing organizations, dealers, and subsidiary training operations
Identifies training needs, provides guidance and expertise in development of training programs, solves critical problems, develops and negotiates cost estimates for deliverables submitted to business units and marketing organizations
Provides leadership and coordinates with other Service Support teams on the design and development of product support strategies
Determines material and course content, training aids, media and plans for assigned products
Develops, or works with suppliers to develop, new training material concepts and innovative materials and edits service-training products prepared by other instructors
.Provides leadership and consultant services to ensure the relevance, appropriateness, timeliness and quality of all training classes and training materials
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of industry experience (or if they've worked on a paving crew)
Ability to travel up to 75% of the working time
Experience reading and interpreting electrical/hydraulic schematics and experience with mechanical, hydraulic or electrical systems in machines
Computer skills (Microsoft suite of tools)
Strong presentation and communication skills
Fluent in English (Spanish desired)
Desired Qualifications:
College degree
Training assignments involving classroom instruction, design, development, and delivery of training courses and materials
Experience in staff and field product support/service-related positions with technical expertise on multiple machine models
Previous experience as a Staff Instructor and materials developer
Experience working with paving machines in a construction capacity
Technical service training on construction equipment or operator training of machines
Advanced computer skills (animation, graphics, audio/video)
Additional Details:
This position travels frequently (up to 75%) to deliver onsite trainings to dealers and customers. Most travel and trainings are conducted in Arizona, North Carolina and customer specific locations. When not traveling, this role will work from Brooklyn Park, MN or a home office
The selected candidate may reside anywhere within the US within 50-miles to a major airport.
Preferred home locations are Minneapolis, MN for proximity to Caterpillar's Paving leadership team or in the states of Arizona or North Carolina.
Relocation assistance is available to Minneapolis, MN only
Benefits & Compensation
Base salary for this role ranges from $104,112 to $156,168. Actual salary to be offered will be based on experience. The total rewards package beyond base salary include:
