Summary You will serve as a Mail Clerk in the Navy Official Mail Control Program of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE. This is a Term Appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and IAW applicable regulations. You may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions. This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position. Responsibilities You will be responsible for sorting, processing, postage metering, distributing and delivering mail. You will deliver mail at schedule delivery times. You will comply with procedural requirements and postal regulations. You will screen for suspicious mail and packages. You will maintain records for certified, registered and insured mail. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing clerical work utilizing a knowledge of a wide variety of Federal and US Postal System requirements and systems for governing the flow and control of mail communications as well as the ability to distinguish among a variety of distribution points/routings. Examples of specialized experience includes the following functions: 1) Receive, screen, sort and dispense mail in preparation for delivery ; 2) Conduct security screening on all incoming mail for suspicious material; 3) Recognize the required steps, procedures, or processes involved in processing several different types of mail, such as registered, insured, certified, security classified, etc. 4) Sorts mail and parcels in accordance to destination and type You may also qualify using education to substitute for specialized experience.
